“Handy location, but it means noise”

It was handy being centrally located, but on a Saturday night you also got the noise from the nightclub patrons in the neighbourhood. The free 30 minute internet access computers in the lobby were very slow....most of the free time was spent waiting for pages to open.

“so .. .so NOT 4.5 stars”

Room 703 had a noisy fan or pump which was very noticeable throughout the night. Probably on the roof above. The restaurant did not seem proactive. Hot and cold food ran out and patrons were left waiting for replenishments. There were not enough saucers for the cups and bowls and small plates were difficult to locate. While I'm sure the staff would have responded, had I asked, the self-service breakfast is not intuitive The room entertainment system is not up to date and overall the hotel is not 4.5stars.

Area recommendations

Several good Indian Restaurants are close by. There is a fantastic gourmet pizza restaurant (APK) in London Cct.

“Great Service”

Hotel was situated in a very convenient location in the Heart of Canberra's CBD. The only off putting part was the charge for the wireless/corded internet which I thought was very high, but as I did need it, I paid for it, apart from that the staff were helpful and courteous

“NOT A HOTEL FOR FEMALES!!!”

My colleague and I are travelling very often to Canberra for business and this is the worst hotel we have stayed in. We can only say the Chef is great and prepares nice meals at the restaurant, besides that there is nothing I can complement about this hotel. When we arrived to our room straight away we realised the room is not at all designed for a female, not enough space to move around (we had booked a room with 2 double beds), there was no space where to store our clothes as there was a tiny closet which was full with the ironing board and the tea tray so no space at all. for the 2 nights we stayed we had to keep our bags, clothes and shoes lying around and us tripping over as the room was very small. We wanted to have a cup of tea there was only 1 cup in the room, we asked for 1 and it took close to an hour to arrive. There were no Sanitary Bags or cotton buds, actually there was only hand soap and a cheap shampoo/conditioner in the same bottle. On the morning we were leaving we had the cleaning staff coming entering into our room 3 times up to the point we got upset and told them we would let them know when we were ready to leave. There are lots of other points, too much to mention but for the price we paid, it was not a hotel up to standards and on top of that we had to pay separately for parking space each day. On our way out we found a trolley so we carried our luggage to the car park ourselves!!!

“will not be returning”

Understaffed at reception desk, both at check in and check out. lengthy queue, agitated guests and undertrained staff, the concierge was pulled in to help out the one and only receptionist on the desk he apologised for his lack of knowledge and had to find assistance also, more than twenty guests behind us all getting frustrated. Poor receptionist, who would put their staff under that much pressure? It's obvious that if checkout will be busy, it will be at 10am on a Sunday morning. The heater /air conditioner in our room did not work, the room was cool bordering on cold and unadjustable. Quality of room service food simply awful - ordered from the restaurant menu, Still shudder when I think of the mouthful of duck I put in my mouth, overcooked, rubbery and smelling like palstic, menu read with caramelised pear, this turned out to be three slices of raw pear. Croutons on the ceasar salad laughable, stale old pieces of toast, no oil / butter, herbs, garlic, nothing, dressing- no love, shame on the chef and the integrity of his staff. no towels in room, had to ring reception and ask for them

Area recommendations
Rydges formally the Pavillion in Manuka. -spacious rooms, luxurious, good food, great attention to detail, quiet. Hyatt Regent - well its the Hyatt, relaxing, beautiful, good food.
Other
Try Silo bakery for exquisite cheeses, tartsand bread, great wine and coffee. Kingston. Tues - Sat.

“Great hotel in a great location, but counter staff major let down”

When i check in, I offered my printed Expedia reservation, but she basically ignored it (didn't even looked at it). I can't say she was overly friendly (may be it's Canberra?) Stay at the hotel was good, room was clean, breakfast was good and location was great. When I checked out, I had hotel charge for $142 for breakfast and valet parking. I told her breakfast was included in my tariff. She replied "No, you only prepaid for the room. I then retrieved my printed Expedia reservation and showed it to her. She looked at it and then said "I have to take a copy and check with my manager." She then came back and said "Okay, that leaves $30 for the parking." I replied, "How did you know I parked in your car park?" She replied, "Because you would have handed your keys to the valet". I then ask her. "Can you check on your computer what my car's registration?" "No, I don't have that information on my computer". "Okay", I said, "For your information, I was able to park on the street for both nights". Parking on weekend on the street was free in Canberra. She replied "Are you sure you did not use the car park downstairs?" I replied, "Absolutely, why don't you call the valet up here?". She replied, "Thats okay, in that case, you are done." At which point I left. Not one word of apology for their mistakes. Her whole demeanor was that she was annoyed that she could not charge me anything.

Plenty of restaurants around Melbourne building but watch out on Sundays, the place is dead. Better luck in City Walk / Canberra Central area.

“Would recommend this hotel for anyone who wants to be close to all attractions.”

Conviently located within 10 minutes walk to major city shopping & entertainment centre. Dozens of restrurants witing walking distance and hotel is located on one of the major roads. Everything is close, just make sure you pick up a map from reception.

Area recommendations
Canberra zoo. Book their Zooventure tour. How great is this, being able to get behind the fences and hand feed tigers, lions, leopards, bears and five other animals. This has to be one of Canberra's top attractions and a chance to live on the wild side.
