great location, well appointed

Posted 26-Mar-2015
Pros: location, value, service
Cons: It's a fairly routine pleasant hotel room, perhaps a few more stylish touches.
Location: near the embassies and parlaiment house, 10 minutes from ANU by car.
I neede a one-night stop-over preferably close to parliament house so this was very well placed, very easy to get to various places I wanted to go to, by car. There is a restaurant, also offering breakfast, which I didnt use but glad to have it available. Reception lady was very cheerful and friendly.

Good position but my room was basic.

Posted 18-Mar-2015
Pros: Close to local cafes and restaurants.
Cons: Fittings seemed cheap.
Location: Great local cafes and easy drive to the major buildings in the Parliamentary triangle.
The hotel was full - it's in a good position. I looked in a room overlooking the park and it looked very pleasant but I had a pokey upstairs room for 2 adults with a cheap cupboard perched on the top of a bench. The shower recess was the smallest I've ever seen. I wouldn't go there again.

A great, good value place to stay in Canberra

Posted 12-Mar-2015
We have stayed at Forrest Inn on our last four trips to Canberra and have always been impressed by the friendly, courteous staff and the good value accommodation. On our most recent trip we stayed three nights to see Enlighten, the James Turrell Retrospective, the National Arboretum and exhibitions at the Museum of Australian Democracy, the ACT Museum and Gallery and the ACT Crafts Council. Forrest Inn is very conveniently located close to Manuka and Kingston for good shopping and restaurants. On this trip the hotel was fully booked, so parking spaces were a bit limited but we managed to find spots on site. It was a bit noisy on one morning when a group of bikers started up their Harleys but otherwise well up to the usual standard. we will definitely stay there again.

Excellent location and reasonable rates

Posted 06-Mar-2015
Pros: The staff were helpful and friendly
Location: We were In Canberra for a dragon boat regatta so did not take in the sights
The hotel was in a very central location and we enjoyed a delicious pizza and bottle of wine at the restaurant overlooking the park.

Excellent service

Posted 15-Feb-2015
Pros: Friendly family hotel, clean and efficient.
Cons: The hotel is somewhat isolated, so the highly restrictive opening hours of the hotel kitchen were surprising.
Location: Lots of things within a short bus ride (which you grab from nearby Manuka). It is out of the city, but Canberra is so spread out it barely matters.
I enjoyed my stay, although some of the noise management around the hotel was a bit rough. For example, having groundsmen start blowers at 730am is a bit rough! The hotel is not very central but is reasonably well-placed for Public TRansport. The staff didn't know about PT though, and I had to find out for myself - this would be a useful area for them to upskill in. Having the laundry open a little later at night would be great for busy travellers, and also because the dryers don't work quickly as such.

Small rooms with poor bedding.

Posted 27-Jan-2015
Pros: The staff.
Cons: Sound proof the room. Comfortable pillows and beds.
Location: Great location. Not far from parliment house.
This motel looks nicer and larger in the photo's. The rooms are tiny and cramped and it is very dated. The walls are thin and we can everything in the rooms around us. People smoke outside the rooms and the smoke drifts into the bathroom through the slightly open windows. The reasturant was not open in the evenings and I did not realise it was open for breakfast until the last day when I saw the sign outside in the drive way. The double bed sunk in the middle and was very uncomfortable. I could not fault either the staff or the cleaners because they were very helpful.
