4.5 stars is a little misleading.....

Posted 14-Apr-2014
Upon arrival at the hotel, you would probably notice the giant sign out the front proudly proclaiming this is a 4.5 star establishment. One look inside the room and you wouldn't be able to tell. Don't get me wrong, the reception area and the staff are lovely. The location is a little out of the way (i.e not near any shops), but if you're driving there it isn't a major problem as it's near many of the major roads. Free WiFi is also a major plus. But the rooms are a different story. Firstly, the room itself looks like it hasn't been renovated since the early 90's. The wood panel cupboards and tiny bathroom definitely give that impression. The only real modern touches are a HD television (where some of the channels don't work) and an iPod/iPhone dock (which is quite handy). All in all, if all you need is a bed for an overnight stay, this will suit you fine. Just don't believe the flashy aires that this hotel presents and don't pay too much.

Easily accessible hotel in Canberra.

Posted 13-Apr-2014
Pros: It's location, value for money, level of comfort, free wifi.
Cons: Sound insulation between rooms and the corridor.
Location: You need a car. All the galleries and museums in Canberra are only a short drive away.
The hotel was absolutely fine for our over-night stay in Canberra. It offers free wifi unlike many more expensive hotels in the city. The hotel is modern, well cared for and pleasantly furnished. Sound did carry between the corridor and nearby rooms.

A warm welcoming and valuable hotel

Posted 30-Mar-2014
Pros: General level of cleanliness, housekeeping and free wi fi.Also enjoyed the spaciousness of our suite
Cons: Stopping the food delivery truck from arriving at 3:00am in the morning and waking us up
Location: Close to airport.Nearby Manuka is great for food and shopping;Kingston and Dickson have great Asian food. The Portrait Gallery and Museum are a must
This Hotel, whilst not 5 star is excellent value for money. We had one of the suites which was spacious and comfortable. This hotel really requires you to have a car, however it is then provides easy acess to the Airport,City and nearby suburbs such as Manuka Kingston etc.

Well run hotel

Posted 25-Feb-2014
Pros: Cleanness, sense of wellbeing. Staff obviously well treated and so disposed to be pleasant to guests
Location: Canberra is not a large city. Railway station is quite close, impt for people who find it more convenient to go to Sydney by rail.
Thoroughly pleasant, with very pleasant staff, with the extra bonus of being well spoken (not a universal quality in Australia)

Tired, dated and dirty.

Posted 25-Feb-2014
Cons: Introduce staff to customer care. Update and clean the rooms.
Location: Location was a bit decieving on website and was a lot further from the city than we realised.
This hotel was terrible. The rooms were tiny - bathrooms even more so. Needs a refurb and a good clean. Could barely see out the window the windows and screens were so filthy. The staff were incredibly unhelpful and appeared to be totally disinterested in their jobs. I could not even get a copy of our accomodation costs despite several calls to them.

Poor room location due to discounted price

Posted 22-Feb-2014
Overpowering bleach smell on arrival. Bar fridge way too small. Due to booking on line room was in a very poor location eg only view of brick wall. First floor window didn't open. Staff were very pleasant though.
