When we arrived, there were some minor repairs ongoing on the roof and we were instantly upgraded to a suite to ensure that the noise would've reach us. The suite was amazing, with stunning views. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff during our stay and the breakfast and room service dinner were superb. I would highly recommend it and will be staying there next time I am in Cape Town.
Stayed 4 nights with my 19 year old son in a twin in one of the deck rooms so not main hotel - loads of room, modern facilities, large outdoor, private patio with chairs and sun loungers with spectacular views through the trees over the far right hand side of Camps Bay and the beach. Our room was accessed by a rope bridge over a canyon which was great fun. We ate twice in the evening at the hotel - both times excellent food, reasonable prices and great service and divine surroundings in a portico patio at the back of the hotel with views over the gardens and on over Camps Bay - great place to have a beer and watch the sun set...Breakfast was included and small buffet but beautifully done - choice of fresh fruits, yoghurt and cooked - but not your average cooked dishes - Benedict Blondie was a poached egg with bacon on a muffin and a divine sauce...
Staff were great wherever encountered - at reception; in the bar for a beer or Jamiesons or in the morning for a legendary 'Lloyd-o-chino' - a cappucino made by Lloyd....always smiling always helpful I wouldnt hesitate in recommending this well kept secret Camps Bay Retreat (and nor would my son!)
Its not a five star so was not expecting five star service. Check in was pleasant and quick, the room was spacious and had a small attached cooking area/kitchen with all utensils etc. The bathroom was decent although the shower was over the bath.
The bed was comfortable for me (hardish mattress) and it was not noisy although I was there mid week (I could hear the waves breaking on the beach).
The location is perfect for the beach, the pool was clean and there is a pedestrian gate out to the beach next to the pool where there is also a shower and tap for washing off after being at the beach.
The staff were all really helpful and the only down side was that after going out till fairly late there was no parking left in the on-site gated area.
Excellent, safe hotel with wonderful staff. Very helpful. Short walk away from the beach, great dinning areas, and other tourist attractions. Only downside is there is no Internet access in hotel rooms; it is only available in the hotel office.
Room is big enough and clean, location is good. But there is no elevator for the back building, need carry the heavy laggage cases up and down the stairs, which is totally unexpected. No spare power plug and desk in the room, not very convenient if need use laptop to work on sth.
I highly recommend the Glen. Its very clean and quiet and the staff are wonderful. On one side of the street is the actual hotel (built in the 1920's). and on the other side of the street is where the Glen Apartments are located. Guests can use the amenities at either location. In addition, you can order meals and beverages at the hotel and have the bills added to your room charge. Its really a great place. The units come with full kitchen and washer and dryer. Very Convenient. The owners have multiple hotels in Camps Bay and allow guests to use amenities at the Sandy B Beach Club. We are looking forward to our return next year.
Thought was a little expensive in relation to hotels previously stayed in during this trip along the garden route, but guess you paying to be near the city of Cape Town.
Was clean and spacious, with a balcony - however the people staying in the room next door were unaware they were sitting on our part of the balcony i.e. outside our balcony door.
Large shared kitchen and lounge (which were lovely) came as a surprise to me - I obviously did not read the room description adequately! And for that reason would not stay again - but other people could well be really happy with that kind of set up, but not for me.
Overall good place to stay in Camps Bay and close to the bus stop for the red tour bus.
