Great pub with rooms

Posted 11-Sep-2014 on Hotels.com
The pub was charming, our room was really lovely - the Cart Hovel in a separate building on the ground floor. (no twisty stairs). All of the staff were very pleasant and went out of their way to be as helpful as possible. We had dinner in the evening and although on Sunday the menu is a little limited we all enjoyed our food. I would definitely stay here again.

Really good rooms - give yourself a chance to try

Posted 30-Aug-2014
Pros: The bedroom was spacious - twice the size of many, and had full wardrobe, dressing table, Lloyd loom chairs and table. Great wet room and shower too.
Cons: The towel selection included only one bath towel - a simple error I suspect and it didn't inconvenience us.
Location: Ufford is a small village and its selling point must be nearby Stamford which is a delight for those seeking upmarket independent shops and history.
We booked the White Hart at the last minute and as a bed for the night local to a friend we were visiting. We stayed in the Cart Hovel which is a small separate building just across the drive from the pub itself. The building is newly developed and to very high standard. Staff took us to the room, which was a nice touch and offered to carry our (minimal) luggage. The food menu looked superb and diners seemed to be enjoying their food - we had already eaten, but the menu would tempt us back.

Could have stopped for longer

What a great little hotel in a great location. It was one of those stays where everything went well. The staff were helpful and friendly, the room was lovely, the food was very good with a good choice and the beers were on form! It was a shame my work took me here for only a night. I hope to re-visit soon.

Country Inn rebuilt to a reasonable modern standar

Posted 14-Oct-2013
Pros: Country atmosphere
Cons: See above
Location: Burghley House is beautiful and Stamford is a great historic town
They aspire to a high quality of food at a reasonable price but get let down by service and gaffes from the kitchen. Chef appears talented but more training of staff is probably the solution. Rooms are clean and comfortable. Sometime I will work out how to use the iron supplied to press my clothes without an ironing board (not supplied). I didn't discover how to get hot water out of the taps in the basin but plenty in the shower. WiFi worked OK but TV only had basic channels. (no Sky). Attention to detail is what would make a mark of 7 out of 10 into 10 out of 10.
