No wifi why worry?

Posted 05-Sep-2014
Pros: Oundle is a most unusual town.
Cons: Connectivity and accountability.
The Vodafone signal was non-existent - no 2G let alone 3G. Why worry if there's always the hotel wifi? Except that wasn't working anywhere in the hotel (and especially around room 305 where the repeater did not even seem to have power). I raised the problem with several receptionists and even a manager but encountered no great sympathy nor effect other than gaining access to the office wifi that I could access from reception and the neighbouring snug. Lovely concept to keep remnants of work at bay but not for me too little concern what that meant for a 2014 customer. I'm sure someone might have apologised but nothing more tangible than that. I shall mail head office but am not holding my breath.

overnight stop

I stay in a lot of hotels for work and pleasure. It was noticeable that all the staff I interacted with at The Talbot were excellent, very friendly and prompt with service. Small thinks go a long way to making you feel welcome!

excellent old world charm meets modern

Excellent old world charm with a modern twist. Didn't eat but rooms were.large and comfortable. Only downside is dispite telling them about the wireless being unusable nothing was done to fix it, here's hoping this gets it fixed as a business user it's critical

Friendly and helpful staff

The staff at the Talbot hotel were very friendly and welcoming throughout my stay there, the room was comfortable although very hot in the evenings. The hotel restaurant and bar is very nice and provide a nice selection of breakfasts and evening meals. All in all I would definitely recommend the Talbot for business or personal trips.

The village is picture postcard beautiful as is the hotel, room was sparklingly clean and had everything you need, the ensuite was spacious and contemporary and the communal areas classy and refined. Breakfast is amazing as was the service. Overall, brilliant.

Top Class All Round...

Found this hotel by chance while working over in nearby Peterborough. Superb! Beautiful old buidling combined with modern bar and resturant area. Food was excellent. Service from all the staff was perfect - I stay in lots of hotels and its rare to find a gem like this one. Hope to return soon...

Great location, lovely hotel

Posted 22-Apr-2014 on Hotels.com
Oundle is a wonderful village and very close to the A1 for Peterborough and surrounds. The Talbot knocks spots off any of the mainstream Peterborough Hotels and I thoroughly recommend it. It has the character and charm of a medieval town location, aligned with modern decor and comforts.
