Lots of charm considering it dates to 1629.

Expedia should advise the distance of the hotel from the town center as the taxi was 28 pounds to the hotel. Then 29 pounds the next day back for a meeting. The tavern and breakfast was perfect.

Posh-ish

Posted 27-Jan-2015
Pros: It's the only place to stay in Oundle.
Cons: Bigger beds! Better rates.
Location: Walks, historic buildings, pubs, great scenery.
Great staff and nice hotel building and atmosphere. A bit pricey and the double bed was more like 3/4.

Quaint hotel in a beautiful English village

Posted 30-Nov-2014
I spent two nights in this hotel while traveling on business. The building was several hundred years old, but the hotel had modern features that you would expect from a brand new hotel. My room was spacious and the bathroom was recently remodeled. Inside the hotel, there was an excellent restaurant, a small pub, and a coffee shop. I took advantage of all three. Also, the Internet connection was fast. In the pub, there is a fireplace burning oak logs, which made for a cozy evening while enjoying a pint of beer. The staff was extremely friendly. I will stay here again.

Nice classic hotel with interesting history

Cons: Toilet tissue was lesser quality you would expect in such a nice hotel.
Location: Located right in the middle of historic conservation part of the town
My husband I were there for 4 nights on a business trip and enjoyed the stay very much. The staff was friendly yet courteous.

lovely historic hotel

It was a lovely historic hotel. Lots of literature on the history. the staircase to our room came from Fotherinhay Castle. Food good and breakfast. Parking a bit limited but that is to be expected from an old hotel built centuries before cars were invented.

A very good hotel. I didnt eat here in the evening unfortunately so cannot comment on that. Breakfast was however superb with very good service. The hotel has a lot of charm and i would certainly book here again if in the area.
