Quaint hotel in a beautiful English village

Posted 30-Nov-2014
I spent two nights in this hotel while traveling on business. The building was several hundred years old, but the hotel had modern features that you would expect from a brand new hotel. My room was spacious and the bathroom was recently remodeled. Inside the hotel, there was an excellent restaurant, a small pub, and a coffee shop. I took advantage of all three. Also, the Internet connection was fast. In the pub, there is a fireplace burning oak logs, which made for a cozy evening while enjoying a pint of beer. The staff was extremely friendly. I will stay here again.

Nice classic hotel with interesting history

Posted 29-Nov-2014
Cons: Toilet tissue was lesser quality you would expect in such a nice hotel.
Location: Located right in the middle of historic conservation part of the town
My husband I were there for 4 nights on a business trip and enjoyed the stay very much. The staff was friendly yet courteous.

No wifi why worry?

Posted 05-Sep-2014
Pros: Oundle is a most unusual town.
Cons: Connectivity and accountability.
The Vodafone signal was non-existent - no 2G let alone 3G. Why worry if there's always the hotel wifi? Except that wasn't working anywhere in the hotel (and especially around room 305 where the repeater did not even seem to have power). I raised the problem with several receptionists and even a manager but encountered no great sympathy nor effect other than gaining access to the office wifi that I could access from reception and the neighbouring snug. Lovely concept to keep remnants of work at bay but not for me too little concern what that meant for a 2014 customer. I'm sure someone might have apologised but nothing more tangible than that. I shall mail head office but am not holding my breath.

We have been staying in a number of hotels this year and felt that the offer at The Talbot was excellent and great for pet owners.

Talbot - Oundle

Great place and surroundings with lots of interesting history. Booked in a rush and was a little peeved to realise it wasn't IN Peterborough but was glad I'd made the trip. No air con but surely that would spoil it, and staff great.

I stay in a lot of hotels for work and pleasure. It was noticeable that all the staff I interacted with at The Talbot were excellent, very friendly and prompt with service. Small thinks go a long way to making you feel welcome!
