Pleasant rural Hotel

Posted 04-Apr-2014
Pros: The staff & the food, the view from the lounge & dining room windows.
Cons: To get rid of the cigarette butts outside especially near the fish pond.
Location: Nice setting quite rural. I was not bothered to do anything outside as I only travelled public transport to Cambridge from Plymouth to see friend.
Very nice hotel in country surroundings. Excellent lunch with my oldest friend whom I only see once in a few years ( we,ve been friends for 76 years ). Only 2 things to mention, the main one being the sight of the many cigarette butts lying on the grass & part of the path outside where the fish pond is - is not a pretty sight for a non smoker. The other the arm chair arms in my room were a bit worn, but that is a very minor thing. The staff at this hotel were the best I,ve ever encountered, they were so helpful.

Overall nice clean hotel with mainly friendly staff. Pool and hot tub nice but sauna could do with a little TLC.

Noisy!

Posted 02-Jan-2014 on Hotels.com
The room itself was clean and comfortable. The staff friendly. However the problem was the self closing doors which were incredibly noisy. The evening was filled with our neighbours entering their rooms and the following morning our neighbours began to leave their rooms from 6,30 onwards and as each one left the door went 'bang!'. So not the relaxing stay I had hoped for.

Pros: The service is excellent!
Cons: Heating can have better control in the rooms, and bar could be warmer, but I am picking nits here. :)
Location: Not really close to anything but a supermarket but close enough to Cambridge itself that it's a good choice for a short visit.

Nice hotel but very noisy - unspectacular food

Posted 16-Dec-2013 on Hotels.com
A couple of colleagues and I stayed at this establishment for a week. While the surroundings are very nice, but it is a little way out from central Cambridge. The hotel has some decent facilities and the decor is very nice. The staff are reasonably good but no one really goes out of their way to make your stay any more pleasant. Additionally, the hotel is very noisy. When we stayed there was a wedding reception or party taking place. The guests ran up and down corridors, had fights and generally caused a lot of trouble. There is an open air courtyard where the party goers spent a large amount of time shouting and screaming, the noise from which could be heard in most of the guest rooms. This was closed off at 11pm but the people just moved their party inside and ran around the corridors. The hotel management did not appear to have any control and upset many resident guests. As a result I will not stay there again.
