“over night stay”

The hotel let me check in early, which was great and meant I didn't have to walk around with my bag. I was there with my daughter who had an interview, she staid in uni halls. The room was clean and was en suite which was great, the shower was lovely. My only problem was that night I was so cold I could see my breathe, I was freezing; I got up about midnight and went looking to see if there was anyway I could get some heat, only to realize the heater in the room had not been switched on. After getting the heating working I was lovely and warm. Also the tv in the room emits a constant buzzing when switched on, so I turned it off. I did not have breakfast as I had to leave at 7.30am to get to my daughter. The hotel location is great, close to most colleges. I would stay there again.

“Friendly staff”

The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. Breakfast was great with enough protein. Hotel a short walking distance from the center of town and train station. Bathrooms are shared. (One was newly remodeled; the other needed some work.) There is a pub next door so it can get very noisy. I didn't have any problems sleeping though since I was very tired. Overall a good choice.

“Renovations still in progress; would wait to see results”

Was led to believe that renovations were completed but, in fact, major construction was ongoing during the visit. I have no doubt this will one day be a decent B&B in the heart of Cambridge but needs another several months. A follow-up parking permit request was also poorly handled (i.e. lost) bringing into question the staff's organisation. However, continental breakfast was lovely.

“Great location, shame about the service”

Not at all what I exected from a Cambridge guest house. Owners/managers made no effort to get to know us-indeed they hardly bothered speaking to us! The rooms were small, cramped and in need of redecoration. Not good value for just under 70 quid.

Traveller's tip
If weather is reasonable you might want to walk along a lovely riverside route to the delightful village of Granchester. Allow about half an hour for a gentle stroll. We had a nice pub lunch at the Rupert Brooke but you might want to try the famous tea rooms.

“Excellent, friendly welcome and service”

This guest house has recently changed hands and the new owners are anxious that this is known! They are working hard to renovate and update the rooms and facilities - to excellent effect. The room decor is fresh and modern - and of high quality. The parking permit was a boon, give it a try you won't be disappointed!

Traveller's tip
The architecture, shopping and 'arts' in Cambridge make it a city well worth visiting.
