“Comfortable convenient stop on the A14”
I had an overnight stop here after a long day at Snetterton race track. The staff were friendly, and the room clean and comfortable. You need an exit code for the car park and the security suited me as I had my track car on a trailer in the car park. Recommended.
“Great hotel”
Just got back from a two night stay here and would thoroughly recommend it. We had a very efficient check in and the staff even went the extra mile to get us a newspaper which isn't usually offered - very much appreciated. We stayed on a deal with dinner and breakfast included and can agree with previous review that the bar prices are a little expensive but the breakfast was fantastic - everything you could possibly want. The only slight negative is that the staff weren't particulary quick at clearing away the used plates, etc. The leisure facilities here were a definite bonus, pool, gym, etc and the hotel was convenient for us to use as a base to visit Cambridge with a bus stop right outside. Thanks to all your staff for all their assistance in making our short break so enjoyable - we will definitely recommend this hotel to others looking to stay in the area.
“Very tired and undeserving of their 4 stars”
We booked this hotel because it was conveniently located for a local wedding we were attending and appeared reasonably priced for a 4* hotel. When we got there the hotel looked shabby from the outside and lacked life or atmosphere inside. The staff booked us a "discounted" taxi for the night, which three minutes of searching told me was in fact the most expensive service of any local cab company. The room did what it said on the tin but needed re-touching to bring the quality up to match the price. The bathroom hid mould and a lonely looking turd left in the toilet by the room's previous occupants... either way not exactly a surprise worth paying through the nose for! Having not taken full advantage of the facilities or golf course at the hotel we can't comment on the quality of these, but as paying residents we felt the quality of service as well as the quality of the rooms on offer were not in keeping with the hotel's 4* rating. Having said this, the staff we encountered were trying to be helpful.
“A comfortable couple of nights”
The name of the hotel might imply a countryside location, which it is not, being alongside a new residential development and next to a main road. However, with these limitations, we found it comfortable, with a reasonably sized room, quiet, facing away from the road. The staff were pleasant, and there is ample car parking. We would stay in the hotel again.
“Four star??”
Very poor hotel. Basically in a retail park off the motorway. A Travellodge would have been cleaner and tidier and probably of similar standard. No Air-Co or mini-bar in rooms. Decor tired and shabby. Very noisy rooms. Staff arrogant and unhelpful. A big disappointment
“Extremely helpful and friendly staff”
The hotel itself is a little worn around the edges and dated, but the rooms are quiet and very comfortable. The staff were exceptionally helpful and went out of their way to answer questions. We ordered dinner and breakfast and both were excellent. The pool and spa were basic but again the staff was friendly. There was plenty of parking and the grounds were quite peaceful and in excellent condition. We would definitely stay here again.
“needs to do more!”
Hotels like these must really do more. Budget chains are much better value. However you get a restaurant if you can call it that. The soup and the sauce were both made from powder. I should know I am a chef. Prices are not cheap in the restaurant and it would be better if the chain outsourced it's food to a local outfit. It's what a lot of hotels in the States do. I give this information free but if Menzies would like my expertise, I do not come cheap.
“Nice place, with smoking rooms!”
Although there was a problem on check-in because all the computers had crashed, the hotel itself was pleasant, the room was clean and well-equipped and there are smoking rooms available which is a major bonus. Would definitely use again.
“Hotel MENZIES”
