Great stay

It is a great little place with excellent staff. The place was clean and in a great area to see all the sights. The staff were very helpful and have some great tips for the tourist sites.

Bizarre experience

Posted 25-Jun-2012 on Hotels.com
First of all, there isn't anywhere that one is warned that one must make their own bed. We were given out sheets and pillow cases to make our beds. I have never seen this happen before, not even at a Motel 6, or IBIS hotels in Europe! You are not given any toilet paper, bath soap, or dishwashing soap. If you arrive in the night, you are definitely out of luck on the toilet paper and soap scene, as most groceries close at 8 pm. The manager is friendly, but runs the hotel like a boot camp. The room was very clean though, and even if they say a room holds 4 people, you'd have to be quite skinny to manage 4 in one of these apartments. We had what was called a 2 BR room, where upstairs was the bedroom (beds were hard), and downstairs had bathroom, microscopic kitchen and tiny living area. The sofa pulls out as a sleeper sofa, but again, you have to be super tiny to use this as a bed. I tried to imagine taking my 6' 2" son and 5' 8" daughter along next time, but we would need TWO, TWO BEDROOM units!! Gold beach is beautiful though (the beach area).

For the cost; excellent value

Posted 15-Jun-2012 on Hotels.com
For the cost this apart-hotel represents excellent value. The staff in the hotel are extremely pleasant and helpful and speak very good English. Ample secure parking. I thoroughly recommend this hotel hence my 5 star rating. However you have to remember this is an apart-hotel so if you’re staying for a week you need to bring your own linen and toiletries. The location is close to the D Day landing beaches but you still need a car to get around. Also the village amenities are a little limited. There are 2 restaurants but these are not open all week and are rather expensive.

Great Hotel Right on the Beach

Posted 10-Apr-2012 on Hotels.com
The hotel and service is wonderful. The woman who runs it is awesome as is her dog Domino! The location couldn't be better as it's on Gold Beach, which is right between Juno Beach and Omaha Beach and a short drive to Bayeux on some lovely country roads. The hotel was clean and comfortable but there were a few hiccups, nothing I'd say were major or would dissuade me from staying there again. There was a strange smell in an adjoining hallway but I assume that was from some sort of plumbing issue. The room was spacious at two levels and clean. We had four people in our room so two had to sleep on the sofabed, which was very uncomfortable and sank in the middle. It is a sofa bed though so what is to be expected? For the money, the hotel was great. An AMAZING breakfast for 7 euros per person per day was the best value in France. And the gated parking lot was a nice touch. I'd say you should definitely stay here if you're planning a visit to Normandy.

Spotless, well equipped, self catering studio appt

Posted 27-Sep-2011 on Hotels.com
The Residence Gold Beach is a new build small aparthotel only a few hundred yards from the famous Gold Beach (one of the D Landing Beaches). It is in a perfect location for viewing all of the D Day beaches and is close to Bayeux. The small town of Asnelles boasts its very own biscuit manufacturer and is a pretty little town with a couple of restaurants - by going slightly further afield into one of the larger adjoining towns there is far greater choice). Our studio apartment, consisted of a decently sized room. which had cooking facilities and a fridge included, a small fold away table, two dining chairs, a chest of drawers and wardrobe provided adequate storage. There was a comfortable sofa bed which was also very comfortable as a sofa. The separate bathroom had a good shower and a bath and it was all spotlessly clean. (The kitchen equipment was comprehensive - the only things missing were t-towels and a dish cloth). The Italian owner speaks pretty good English - and we and our little dog were made very welcome. Check in times are limited to between 5pm & 7pm. but we checked in outside these times by phoning and giving our arrival time in advance. I would thoroughly recommend this great value no frills accommodation to anyone wanting to spend time in this fascinating area of France without breaking the bank. There are no extras such as soap, shower gel etc, but bedding and towels were provided and you can have continental breakfast for an additional few euros. The owners have a Jack Russell - and our little dog (also a Jack Russell) now has a new French friend!

Residence Gold Beach

Posted 20-Sep-2011 on Hotels.com
Accommodation is basic and functional but equipped with everything you need. TV only had French channels, we used it hooked up to a DVD player from the car. Kitchen has everything you need to self cater. Stayed for five nights while touring the Normandy beaches with my son. Situated slam bang in the middle of the all the D day sites. When the sea is out you can walk out to part of the Mulberry harbour or watch sand yachting. Only one restaurant close by. I would definitely recommend it and stay again.
