Peaceful, quiet, clean, beautiful breakfast!

Posted 13-Aug-2014
The hotel is absolutely beautiful. It used to be a residence and became a hotel 26 years ago. The staff was attentive and efficient. The room was spacious and had everything you could want. Comfy bed and a nice sized bathroom. We slept with the windows wide open and had the fresh air steaming in. It was so quiet! The breakfast was superb. They had everything you could want and it was delicious. I would definitely return to this hotel.

Fabulous Chateau near the D Day Beaches

Posted 06-Apr-2013
We found this Chateau to be exquisitely quaint and charming. The service was lovely, efficient but warm and gracious, with remarkable attention paid to small personal details. First, the Chateau in Port-en-Bessin-Huppain, is pretty much located off the same main artery as Omaha Beach and the American Cemetery, so it is an excellent place to stay for those seeking high end accommodations with good access to those sites. It is also an easy drive to Bayeux and Caen. The Chateau is surrounding by a healthy lawn and nicely placed flowers. The owners are proud of their trees, they hand out a chart of the local trees and their locations on the grounds. There are a number of sweeping views of the valley from the grounds. Our spacious room had beautiful views of the grounds, a fireplace and a recently updated bathroom complete with rain shower, towel warmer rack and L'Occitane toiletries. At turndown they left us a lovely printed note wishing us Happy Easter and a large decoratively wrapped chocolate easter egg for the occasion. The TV was modern and there is free wifi throughout the building including the rooms. One of the more beautiful rooms on the first floor, was the dining room, which is decorated in light shades and beautiful pink orchids. The restaurant is not to be missed, including the wonderful breakfast/brunch that is served. Our stay was wonderful. We will be back.

Great hotel in Normandy

Posted 20-Oct-2012
Pros: Dining room was beautiful, elegant, food wonderful. Bathroom was amazing. Internet, spacious room. Property in great condition.
Cons: Very busy dining room first evening led to being overlooked for 45 minutes for service. After apologies, food and service attentive and delicious.
Location: Near Bayeux in a country location. Parking good. Taxi service from Bayeux possible for restaurants (and wine) without driving.
The Chateau was in a great location for a visit to Normandy. The food was outstanding and we ate in the restaurant two nights. The property was beautiful and our room was great (junior suite) with all the amenities. Bathroom was beautiful! A wonderful stay.

Excellent French Chateau

Posted 29-Aug-2012 on Hotels.com
This Chateau made for the perfect weekend away from start to finish. Very easy to locate driving from Caen. Beautiful gardens and views surround this location. All the staff were very friendly and helpful. The American cemetary and Omaha beach are around a 10 minute drive. There is even a small WW2 museum next to the Chateau. The chefs set menu was very tasty and reasonably priced. I would definitely return and stay for longer.

Hotel Cheveviere

We only stayed a night at this charming little chateau, but would happily have stayed a week! The service was great, plenty of staff and very helpful. Super swimming pool and pool house. Close to Omaha beach, Bayeux and local attractions. Our room, a Deluxe room in the former stable block, was very comfortable and extremely quiet. We stayed in room 420. Fabulous bathroom with jacuzzi bath and L'Occitane toiletries. One small niggle - when the people in the room above flush the loo, it sounds as if water is pouring through the ceiling - fortunately they didn't flush in the night or we would certainly have woken up thinking we were in a flood! Super grounds, with loungers scattered about for enjoying the relaxing surroundings. We had dinner in the restaurant, which was delicious and suitably fabulously expensive. We were en route home from the South of France and only there one night as we were dropping our son off at rugby training nearby. I wish I had known how lovely it was going to be and we would have stayed longer. We were woefully under-dressed at dinner as lots of people were very smart. Would cater brilliantly the the American market as the Chateau has everything French that you'd want - but with great bathrooms and beds!
