"Friendly staff, excellent location and well appointed services"
Neelam's is a well established hotel in the heart of Calangute and is definitely worth the three-four star rating. I arrived at 8am after 24 hours of flights and they fixed up a room for me straight away (before normal check-in), as I was in dire need of rest. The photos on Expedia are accurate as to the style and condition of the rooms.
The pool and indoor areas of the hotel are in good condition, however, are probably not used as much as they could. There is a small disco on some nights and entertainment/music in the evening. There is a small bar on the first floor that serves basic food, water and beverages till the morning, which was great after coming home from a bar or club to pick up a bottle or two of water.
After some sleep, I tried out the ayurvedic massage to re-enliven my soul and relax into Goa. The massage was a good one with a focus on oil based healing, conducted by a trained specialist from Kerela. The food in the restaurant is varied and there are staples for continental preferences on the a-la-carte menu. Along with a choice of Indian breakfast options included in the package, you also get eggs, juice and tea. I didn't try out dinner but from a small sample of the food at Neelam's menu, it was well prepared. However, as it is a hotel, the rates can be more than found in local restaurants.
The staff are friendly and helpful. The gym is well appointed, however, take your own sweat towel. The location is close to shops, beach and markets.
Hotel was good in terms of location to the beach(two minutes walk),rooms were pretty clean and comfortable ,upkeep was a bit disappointing, although it was under construction (the restraunt side of the guest house ) when we reached there.Overall a budget hotel for backpackers and not looking for anything extravagant.
Three known stayers from group all got throat issues at the same time and this appeared to be us swimmers. Room had good space and facilities. Taxi organised for tour was with great driver. Breakfast was missable. Lots of very pleasant staff attending (clean up?), but self service. Rules re pool good for surrounding patrons - a little frustrating for early risers looking for a quiet swim before heading off for the day. Fans and airconditioning working well. Nice to have little kitchenette. Great to have all units opening inwards and creating a clean quiet 'world'.
It has basic necessities for a Goan holiday where you don't require to sit inside the room. The staff got in touch a couple of days before arrival and sent SMS with location and option of a pickup. I promptly got a room on arrival. There were no unnecessary knocks on the door and the staff did not pester for tips. Everyday cleaning up was done promptly and when asked. There was absolutely no botheration from the hotel staff. The staff helped in sourcing a scooty with price way below the peak season. The place was safe for women, the guests were from well to do families and foreigners. The surroundings were clean and quite. In the night, I enjoyed the sound of waves. Chelsea shack, which is close to the cottage was another good experience. The food was good, view was amazing and the staff waited patiently for me to order. This was totally opposite of the experience at main Calangute beach, where the beach was full of pushy waiters who just wanted to make money by constantly forcing the guests to order more. To sum up, I got a good room with reasonable amenities, good location and was not forced into things I did not want to do.
The resort is a great place to stay for family or a group trip. The spread of the resort isn't that big to call it a resort; so if you are looking for a lonely and private place; this wont be it; but otherwise it's really a nice place. The structure and layout of resort is pretty well designed and you would enjoy almost all of amenities/ facilities of a good resort.
This boutique resort welcomes you to Goa - the land of sun, sea and surf. Set amidst lush landscaped gardens, the resort …More
"Reasonably good facility for a relaxing holiday!"
Good facility with a Pool and a Pool side Bar, there is no Car Park and this is definitely a Negative for they cud have converted some place inside the hotel as a car park and that was easily doable.. Friendly staff, the first day service was poor, but we were late a little in the morning for breakfast and thats absolutely tolerable.. I wud rate this a good hotel certainly not the best...
