“Perfect location and comfortable place”
We spent four days, then traveled and returned for two more days. The first stay was perfect in every way, with attention to details by a well qualified and courteous staff. The only distraction was that during the second stay, staff failed to provide towels to one of our rooms and didn't restock the gratis bottled water on one day. The location is perfect - with a view of the Nile and Zemalek, right next door to the museum, and centrally located to go west to the pyramids of Giza and east to the Khan el Kalili. The hotel restaurant options were very good, and the limousine service provided a wonderful driver.
“Good location, but”
I chose a 5* hotel because it was my first time in Egypt and I was traveling with my daughter. I liked the fact that drinking was limited to the upstairs restaurant (always excellent food/service) and there was no casino. The location was excellent, with the Cairo Museum out the back door. It was also near the subway line and the Coptic Center/Museum was only a few stops away. Crossing streets was a nightmare here as everywhere in Cairo, but we managed by tagging along with an unsuspecting Egyptian. The lobby was attractive and the room fine, although the bathroom a bit tired. While everyone was gracious, the twin we had reserved was not offered until day three because we arrived late and the problematic sink drain remained unfixed the last day of our stay after two assurances that it would be fixed.
“View of the Nile”
This is a great location for Cairo. Roof terrace gives you a panaoramic view of city and can see pyramids from roof. I kept on going up to take it in. The museum is just at the back entrance to hotel so you can avoid the hassle of the taxi and negotiating the traffic. Its not cheap and breakfast is extra. However the setting for breakfast and friendliness of the staff was excellent. We changed notes at the useful bank there so we had plenty of small notes ready to hand for tips for the probably not very well paid staff. They have a good cafe with western prices but after a day being a Cairene it's good to be able to relax in the familiar.
“Cairo, Egypt”
Great location with the museum, but nothing else in walking distance. Nice roof top bar good food and lobby cafe. All personnel very nice and accommodating. Worth the price of stay.
“Run down feel to it.”
The Nile hotel is being completely refurbished next year and made into a 5+ star hotel - unfortunately this is currently reflected in the tiredness of the place now! Whilst the location is excellent the hotel itself definitely has that "end of season" apathy feel about it. Whilst being satisfactory and basically clean it lacked any sort of buzz or value. It was dark and gloomy and there was clearly no money being spent on basic maintenance. Would only rank as a 2/3 star hotel at the moment.
“Great hotel with great Nile views”
The Nile Hotel is a great hotel of the older "Grand Hotel" sort of tradition. It has large, commodious rooms, lots of very helpful staff, informed and very helpful Concierge personnel, and excellent dining facilities. (Try the outstanding Lentil Soup in the first floor restaurant.) Despite a very last-minute request from me, Concierge Walid got me onto the very popular Maxim Nile dinner cruise with no problem and also arranged for an outstanding guide and driver to show me Giza (and get me inside the pyramids) and Alexandria. The Nile Hotel is a great value and a terrific "Grand Hotel" type of experience. It also has the major plus of being adjacent to the Egyptian Museum.
“A Very Nice Hotel”
We stayed a total of 6 nights at the Nile Hotel during September 2009. The Hotel staff was extremely friendly and helpful. We had a very enjoyable stay and would recommend this Hotel to friends and family.
“I would come to this hotel again”
The hotel's location is very convenient, you can walk to the museum since it is behind it and can easily walk to nice restaurants on the Nile. Request your room on high floors since the activity along the Nile river can be noisy. The beds could be a little more comfortable and the restaurants at this hotel are too expensive . However, a visit to the roof's restaurant is a must. The staff in general is very attentive and serviceable.
“beautiful hotel in central cairo”
this hotel is in a perfect location, right on the nile and across from many attractions and a short drive to the pyramids. try and get a room on the 10, 11 or 12 floor (executive) they cost more but are worth it, the beds are actually soft. we were first put in a room on the 8th and the beds were hard as rocks. they moved us to the 10th and there was a huge difference. get a room that faces the nile as it is a great view but if you are a light sleeper the noise outside will keep you up as people in cairo are out really late making a lot of noise we found. pay the extra to use the executive lounge for all your meals and drinks included. breakfast is awesome at the rooftop restaurant and lunch and dinner at the lounge are alright. overall an excellent stay even though the hotel is VERY dated and in desperate need of a huge make-over.
“ok for moneyworth”
