“Hotel nice, but not impressed by bill hassle.”

Hotel very nice, and service generaly good but spoiled by the annoying habit of the staff chaseing you to sign bills almost immediately. Half way through dinner or breakfast for example. Even when you have meals included in your reservation. They must spend a fortune on paper !! Most places just add extras if any, to your final invoice, which you then settle at the end of your stay. This will be the last time I stay here for this reason as after a while it became very annoying and spoiled the experiance for myself and my fellow colleague.

Was here on Business so did not see the sights.

Getting around

Take care on the roads as it resembles the dogem cars at the fun fair, but with more danger !! Let the locals drive you around. Fasten your seat belt if there is one! Be prepared to see some sights on the roads as well in the country!

“Would Return Again!”

Service was great! Hotel was perfect! Food was very good. A little over-priced for food - but good none the less. The pool is perfect for children. Highly recommended!

“JWM Mirage”

Other than British Airways screwing everything up because their pilot got sick and it took them 4 hours to get another one so I ended up booking alternative flights on KLM, the holiday was very enjoyable.

“Beautiful Hotel”

This hotel was amazing! I am very familiar with the Marriott brand in the US, but this hotel blew my expectations out of the water. It was on the verge of oppulent! The hotel was beautiful, immaculately clean and had excellent service. The room was very comfortable, with a huge bathroom and outside balcony. The only slight downfall is that with traffic, it took nearly an hour to get into and out of the heart of Cairo. There were also several restaurants in the hotel that were top notch. I would highly recommend this hotel.

“Great experience in Cairo”

They were extremely helpful. We arrived to the airport at 2:00 at that time there were people from the hotel awaiting for us and this is a free service! We were supossed to check in the hotel at 3:00 pm they check in us that early morning again for free!! The Hotel is beautiful, excellent facilities, beautiful SPA and a lot of swiming pools. It is far away from the city, but this for me was a plus. It is so nice to arrive to this oasis of peace after a crazy day in Cairo. The restaurants are excellent, and for me the prices are very good! I really recomend the Lebanese restaurant! I had one of my best holidays in this hotel. They have an exxcellent free shutle that runs to the airport, the mall city stars and to the down town. A Taxi fromt the downtown is not more than 10 USD. The hotel even offers some free tours with tour guide included.

Getting there

The hotel offers a free shutle from the airport but one has to call 24 hours before to make the reservation. Not a lot of taxis knows the exactly location of the hotel, the concierge offers a card with detailed explanations of the addres in Englisg and arabic. It is important to negotiate the price with the taxi before board it. From the city to the Hotel has not to be more than 50 Egiptian pounds (they always will try to ask for a lot of more)

“Family Adventure”

The hotel is close to the airport but its way out of town so you can spend some time travelling to sights. We had booked the free Hotel shuttle bus to collect us from the airport as we were arriving at 2:30am and on arrival we were met by a hotel representative who helped us through immigration which was unexpected but well worth it, as it was quick. The hotel was very good and the facilities for the children excellent with 4 outdoor pools, one with a wave machinea and 2 heated. This was the reason for our choice of hotel, so that we could have one day sight seeing with 2 days by the pool to give the kids a break. Service in the resurants was good although by the pool it was comically slow at times but as we were relaxing, so it was no big deal for us. The hotel has a regular shuttle bus service into town to the Bazar and the Egyptian museum and tours can be booked with the very helpful concierge. Overall our stay was enjoyable with nothing to complain about.

Area recommendations

If you're with children the J. W. Marriot, Mirage city is the place to be as it is family friendly. If your single or a couple then its probably best at a hotel in town.

“Not JW standard.But one of the better ones in Egypt.”

Not the best Marriott I've been to. Surely not a JW. I was upgraded to a Junior Suite.At first I was impressed by the size of the room, but soon I discovered some mildew and soap scum in the bathroom and dust on the furniture.However the staff was very friendly. Very close to airport and belt highway so you miss out on the crazy Cairo traffic.Good for business travel, not for tourists far from downtown Cairo.Not that bad for Egypt.
