“Terrible Service, Good Location”
We requested a non-smoking room with a king bed. We instead got a smoking room and two double beds which they said they could connect the two beds together and make them up like a king bed so my husband I would be able to share the same bed. After 3 days at the hotel calling both the front desk and housekeeping each night, nothing was done about the bed situation. The hotel was also very loud at night. There were two weddings during the weekend we visited, the weddings were not particularly late at night, around 9:30pm but we could hear them very clearly from our room and they were very loud and distracting even with the windows completely closed. The food at both restaurants was not good. Both the buffet and the Italian restaurant were terrible. We purchased full-board for our stay and ate less than half our meals in the hotel due to the quality of the food. The front desk staff seemed very disinterested in any concerns we had and were for the most part unhelpful. The bellhops and security were very friendly and helpful. They were definitely the best staff members we encountered. Housekeeping, other than the bed situation, consistently did a good job with our room which was very clean.
“over all it is a good hotel”
as an hotelier i can say it is a good hotel bit not even one day i got a fruit basket or a newspaper
“Can be a good deal for the price”
This hotel has pros and cons. First the pros. For what they charge, you get a very nice room (particularly on the ground floor poolview), the grounds are nice (particularly around the pool at nights) and there is great live entertainment in the Arabic Cafe. On the cons side, the food is generally terrible- often recycled and overpriced for the quality. Internet access is expensive. There are few eat-out options around, there is a highway overpass right next to you which brings in some pollution, the neighborhood is somewhat rundown. Also, they use pesticides you can smell almost everyday. The hotel is almost an hour with traffic from downtown. I would not recommend this hotel if you need to travel to downtown regularly. The service is sometimes good and sometimes bad.
“Not bad!”
Nice hotel for the price. The food is its weakest link.
“Not worth it!”
The hotel is not in city centre nor near pyramids so either way you have to hire a car from the hotel to get to any major touristic site. Since the roads are quite dangerous, without any lanes in Cairo, being in a car with a wild driver can be a little worrying with very high speeding. Be careful when you want to go to the pyramids from this hotel because they do not tell you that they will take you to a saddle shop first to make you pay for a horse carriage or camel deal and when you refuse the hotel driver isn't too impressed for some reason. We confirmed at the hotel that the cost to hire a car with a driver to the pyramids for 1 day ($60USD) means taking us there and bring us back after 5 hours and they said it was so after refusing the saddle shop we asked our driver to just drive to the parking area of the pyramids and pick us up at after 5 hours. He was fine with it. Also the poolside music is very loud every night so bring your ear plugs if you want a good sleep. Elevator was broken for a day and spa is pretty elementary so not worth the money if you can stay at a more central location without having to hire a driver would be better for the same price.
“Views of the pyramids from the rooms!”
Rooms provided with views of the pyramids!!! Great for families as central big pool area, large rooms with interconnecting doors and balconies. Service was friendly and food was good. Enjoyed our stay and would recommend this property
“Good bargain, close to pyramids”
Arrived @ hotel from the airport. Cab ride was 140# Egyptian. Hotel is very nice especially considering the neighborhood its in. Also very price competative. Its with in a 5 min cab ride from the pyramids. My cabby had trouble finding the hotel. Good idea to print out some good directions/map in case your cabby is as clueless as mine. Pool was very nice, minus the loud music they played from about 11 am to 10 pm. If that bothers you, good idea to book a room oposited side of the building from pool.
“Average Hotel - not very impressed.”
Disappointed because they were supposed to pick us up from the airport. I emailed and called for confirmation, but they failed to show up. They reimbursed us 1/2 of the taxi fare. The AC was broken for over 24 hours. Sent someone to fix it, but after 3 attempts, they moved us to a different room. Hotel staff was nice. Room was clean. Food was OK. The service was average. Restaurant waiters at poolside were not very efficient. BUT, the price was good so I would not complain too much.
“It was a lovely experience to stay at Grand Pyramids Hotel”
The hotel was very close to Pyrimids and the service was excellent. Well maintained room and a superb swimming pool.
“I'll be back!”
This hotel and its grounds are very beautiful. Regarding the location, we were close enough to see the top of the Great Pyramid from our hotel room. Transportation was not a problem, and security was good. We loved the breakfast menu because it offered a full range of breakfast food (Eggs, Sausage, Toast, Cereal, Fruit...). Other places I have stayed only offered the basic "Continental-style" menu: cereal, milk, coffee/tea, pastries...). We are very pleased with the Grand Pyramids Hotel, and recommend it highly.
