“Arrogant reception”
Beautiful old palace and gardens are the central amenities and well worth experiencing. Bedrooms in tower blocks are comfortable , but unremarkable for the price - saving feature is great view of Nile if you can persuade the somewhat arrogant reception to put you on higher floors facing the right way !
“just excellent”
This is a really good hotel in easy walk of the Nile - you can walk to Tahrir in 20 minutes. The rooms are comfortable and the service excellent. One tip take a USB port lan if you want to use the internet in your room.
“the best exper hotel”
The best of all the hotels this is the one for U.S . people everything about this hotel is 5 stars for sure the food is great and the prices are even better. The city is dark no lights and very busy. The hotel is a get away from the city and very safe to guards every were.
“would recommend”
I stayed here and at the sofitel el gezirah. El gezirah is more modern and up to date. But marriott has charm and is interesting to explore. I liked the sunken pool area. Food was good. Not a particularly interesting area of Cairo, but does have a good bookstore that sells books written in english nearby.
“Not 5 star service”
The Marriott is well positioned in Zamalek and facilities look good on paper. However, many of the restaurants were closed and the one we tried got our order wrong and didn't care when we pointed out their mistake. Prices for food and drink are far too expensive for quality and service provided. There is an excellent restaurant outside called Abou El Sid, 2 minutes to the northen side ... find it and go every night ! The Bakery for breakfast was friendly and reasonable. As summer doesn't start until April and we were there mid-March, the pool wasn't clean and the bar / cafe not open. Fortunately the pyramids, museum and Alexandria were excellent and with hardly any tourists around our trip was great. The local Egyptians are friendly and NEED our tourism, please go and enjoy. We used a local tour company called Wedjat Tours. they met us at the airport, provided minibus and guide for Alexandria and pyramids and took us back to airport after a 2 day break. They were excellent. Not cheap, but good VFM.
“Excellent location/Staff”
The hotel staff was excellent, from the bellhop to the concierge, to the restaurant staff. The location of the hotel is also excellent, as it is within a short cab ride to the Egyptian museum and other Cairo sights. There are some shops/restaurants within walking distance as well. The hotel grounds are truly an oasis within the confines of a very busy and active city.
“Cant wait to go back”
Hotel room very comfortable and balcony provided great view of the Nile. Very clean room with comfortable bed. the heated pool was a nice touch and the restaurants were good and the sushi was excellent.
“Great Stay”
It was a great stay but the ride from the Airport to the Hotel was super bad. Rather use the Limo Service then taking a Taxi. The bed in the room was not of the best. It was old. It had holes on the left and the right but still comfortable.
“Palace Dream!”
Absolutely fantastic place to stay. We were upgraded to the executive wing with the benefits of internet, executive lounge, which saved us in the long run, i,e, fabulous morning and evening buffets. Beautiful view of Cairo out our window. Self-contained with restaurants, swimming, tennis, weight room, bakery, gift shop, etc. We left in the days to see downtown Cairo and Pyramids and then came back to a Palace at night. Very large room with chair and huge desk. Only complaint, stained carpets.
“Lovely hotel, very expensive though!”
We got the hotel car from the airport, it was really expensive, total ripoff! Everything in American dollars, so you pay a fortune for everything, Rooms wonderful. Very comfortable.Staff ok. Lots of restaurant choices there, huge pool area. Casino a bit disappointing very bright , not much selection in games and you can only use US dollars. All in all wonderful hotel but very pricey and staff a little off.
