“Great location”
Of seven hotels we stayed in on our London-Singapore-Australia holiday, this was the winner. It is superbly located, has stunning views over Trinity Bay and I would recommend it unreservedly.
“Reception area looks tired!”
Aussies should learn a little more from Asians in hotel management! The lobby looks old and tired.
“OK for the price”

“Fantastic stay”
Lovely hotel, very centrally located. Friendly, happy staff who are willing to help. Food at the restaurants is a bit expensive, but you can just take a short walk down the road to the Esplanade restaurants which are reasonably priced. Highly recommended.
“Good Hotel, Staff Service extremely disappointing.”
The hotel is nice, the decor is probably outdated. When we checked (although) the lobby was empty, the male concierge was rushed and rude. My main frustration was with a female concierge. There are a number of computers in the lobby, they are connected to one printer. However, this printer is not the default no any of the computers. Therefore your printing (in my case my boarding pass) goes astray. The lady at reception advised it was not her problem as they use an external IT company and tough basically. Another guest suggested they address it, as people such as myself now have to go and queue at the airport to check in. She advised she will get someone to 'mention' it next time IT company comes in and dismissed him. The food in the restaurant there is extremely overpriced and tries too hard, not to mention is plain disgusting and greasy. I wouldn't recommend this hotel as from speaking to other tourists in Cairns there is far better for the same amount of money.
“Old hotel in need of serious updates!”
The front desk staff and the concierge were very friendly and helpful. The hotel lobby and the pool area were looking good. The rest of the hotel is just old and need serious updates. The beds, were the Rydges hotels are famous for were a big disappointment. They were old and the mattrasses needed to be replaced. it was an uncomfortable sleep. we checked two rooms, both smelt funny, like moldy and had lots of dust hanging from the ceiling from the air conditioner. Not a particularly fresh look. The location made up for the state of the hotel, although i would not recommend staying in this particular hotel. Just choose one of many other hotels at the Esplanade in Cairns.
“Extremely enjoyable stay”
Only criticism was the freezer compartment in our room (601) would not freeze anything.
“best location!”
great location, just opposite esplanade .The place is near all great restaurants. The place is central to all pick up points for tours. we booked a room with queen bed but were upgraded to a sea view room with 2 double beds.
“needs a refit out of date and shabby room”
The room was dated and needed a good tidy up .the tiles in the bathroom had old dirty grout ,could not see the tv properly as it was in a cabinet as when the doors were open you couldn't see it so had to remove daily,The fridge was old and made a right racket Had an old safe in the room but had to pay for using it hoping not to loose the key .....
“Cairns esplanade great hotel”
Very pleased. Nice room, good service great location, restaurants nearby. Convenient walk to shops and sights.
