“A good choice”

The Hides Hotel is conveniently situated for everything, the esplanade, lido, night market, restaurants etc. Room was a good size with en suite and having breakfast on the terrace overlooking the main streets (one pedestrianised) was a very pleasant way to start the day. Staff were very helpful. Would definitely recommend this hotel

“Great Veranda and location”

This hotel was our 1st stop in Australia and was a great location. The buses stopped right at the street the hotel is on and the harbor was within walking distance. The continental breakfast was good and the veranda to enjoy it on was a great place to people watch and enjoy the trees and birds. The room was simple but plenty of room. The only complaint from me is that the airconditioner blew directly on the bed. The room key had to be in in order for the electrical to work so the room would be very hot when ever we came in. Other than that it was a great experiance for my boyfriend and I.

“A hotel with some real character and conveniently central to Cairns”

This hotel coudn't be more convenient for amenities. The included breakfast on the beautiful veranda was something special. As the pool was out of order when we went, the hotel loaned us towels and we swam in the lagoon, which actually turned out to be lots better. We also booked our reef tour via the hotel, which gave us a good discount.

“Would love to come back”

Everything was great: room, bed, breakfast, shower, verandah, staff. There was a bit of noise from the air conditioner on the roof outside the window but ok with window closed. Also noise from Irish Pub but ear plugs are cheap. Hotel is close to everything: mall, shops, restaurants, cafes, busses at front door. I had a car park under the hotel which was very convenient and the Greek Taverna across the road from the garage was wonderful. Pool looked lovely and clean, (and deep) but didn't get time to use it. A remote for the TV would have been good. Other guests from Crocodile Club were lovely and friendly. Can't wait to go back and stay again.

“Excellent Spot in the middle of Cairns!!”

Excellent spot for sure! The hotel is located in the middle of Cairns. It has a car park, pool, complementary breakfast, internet access, washing machines, travel desk, + more. It's a great place with a lovely 2nd floor veranda. Too bad the trip ended!

this hotel is close to everything,shopping plaza 2 blocks away,cinema 1 block internet cafes,eateries,tour operators,lagoon,all within walking distance of hotel.Hairdryer and ironing board and iron plus tea/coffe facilities in a superior room,very comfortable bed,friendly and helpful staff,loved the breakfast on the verandah.this is a really nice and central hotel,enjoyed my stay very much.

I loved the Hides Hotel; great location, great atmosphere, friendly down-to-earth staff and very affordable. I will book there again when I next visit Cairns.

nOV. 2009. wEALL FOUR WERE HAPPY WIH THE HIDES. COMFORTABLE QUAINT PLACE. GOOD ACESS TO AREA. WALKING DISTANT TO BEACH. GOOD HELP WITH ARRANGING OUR TOURS, WOULD STAY HERE AGAIN IF I GO TO CAIRNS AGAIN.

“VERY CONVENIENTLY SITUATED AND PRICED TO SUIT LOWER INCOME GROUPS”

This is a very old private hotel which caters for people who would otherwise not be able to afford hotel accommodation. The people who run it are very, very nice and they keep their charges low so that lower-income people can afford a holiday. Their clientele seems very nice. We encountered no problems or bad types of people. We have been there many times before and would most definitely go there again. It is right in the middle of the city, making it a perfect place to use as a holiday base.
