“good value for the money”

This motel was a good value in Cairns. It is outside the town, so it is better if you have a rental car

“best western 'the extra mile'”

the best western (new calon) was lovely if a little too far from the town centre. when we left for brisbane we forgot the postcards that we had written out and on our return to th UK we discovered that they had been posted by the staff presumebly. for this i give great thanks for going 'that extra mile'

“For the price it was perfect !”

We had a great check-in process, the lady on the counter was lovely :) The room itself was clean, comfortable and perfectly adequate for our needs. The bed was comfy and the linen was of a good grade and quality. For the price this hotel is a great deal. Granted it is a little was out of the main CDB area but we had our own transport so that wasn't an issue for us. Breakfast offered is toast, cereal, tea and coffee, nothing fancy but it's free :) The internet is is also free and reasonably fast, we would be happy to stay there again. The hotel has a wonderful pool and public area, would be great for kids. For the price this hotel cannot be faulted, we would be happy to stay there again.

“Great service however, the quality of the food needs to be improved!!”

We found the hotel to be a little further out of the city than we previously thought. Having said that, there were regular buses into and out of the city to the hotel or a short cab ride -which is what we opted for most nights!. The service was outstanding as everyone was extremely friendly however, the quality of the food in the restaurant was not great. We ordered main dinner without dairy products (as I am lactose intolerant) however, it arrived with a butter sauce throughout and cheese in the salad!! The waitress seemed confused when I pointed out that cheese and butter are dairy products.

“Not to bad.”

The hotel is a little dated and our room had a few ants running around, enough to comment, but it is far North Queensland. They didn't bite. The rooms were comfortable and the service in the restaurant was outstanding. We would stay there again.

“Great Value but not close to downtown Cairns - Car Needed”

This hotel was a great value, but you definitely need a car to get around as it is not located in the downtown area of Cairns. The people here are extremely friendly and helpful. There is Micky D's and some other take-out establishments within a 5-10 minute walk from the hotel if you do not have a car. There is also a grocery store in the same complex (5-10 minute walk). I'm sure there are buses to take you into downtown, however I had a car so I didn't inquire about them.
