“Georgie and Sam @ blue lagoon”

Nice place. Great location. No Spa ( like the website states) Reception shuts at 6pm - would have been nice to know before arriving and would have been nice to be greeted by someone. Problems- we stayed for 6 nights and our room was not cleaned and our towels were not changed once in this time!! The bus to cairns city takes 50mins - all the activities really start there- so a it makes a long day trekking in and out. If i went there again i would hire a car- though about $40 a day, the time saved would be worth it

Area recommendations
Go to palm cove!! Defiantly worth it. and fishing and crabbing half day tour - our most favorite thing!!

“A Nice Break From Alaska...”

Check in wasn't too bad Joanna was really nice and helpful and too bad she only worked a few days out of the week-the other receptionist wasn't very kind. Beyond the alarm clock getting switched out, the air conditioning fixed from leaking all over, the TV buzzing annoyingly, all the fire ants (put everything in the fridge), and the stinky bathroom...it wasn't so bad. It was a bed after our crazy days and I still think we got a killer deal. We actually ended up purchasing a weekly bus pass and we would have stayed in the city for all the city travel we did. Highlights include the Skyrail to Kuranda, holding a koala at Koala Gardens, having a spa experience in Palm Cove, and snorkeling the Barrier Reef twice! All in all Australia was nice and we hope to go back someday-this time with a dive certification :) Happy Travels!

“love to still be there”

only downside you had to go off-site for value-for-money eats. I felt the meals were tiny and way over-priced .

When to go
mid-year , weather is better
Getting around
pick-ups for tours are best, most convenient however your own wheels are better for exploring the swimming-holes etc.

“WOULD CERTAINLY GO BACK”

IF WE EVER VISIT CAIRNS AGAIN WE WOULD GO BACK AS IT WAS VERY HANDY TO LOVELY RESTAURANTS AND ALSO TO THE BEACH. THE ONLY COMPLAINT WE HAVE IS THAT THE LOUNGE WAS VERY UNCOMFORTABLE OTHERWISE EVERYTHING WAS GREAT

“I would probably try another hotel”

Only 1 staff member on at a time (receptionist) who was happy to arrange tours, taxis etc. but had to lock the office and attend to other matters at times. Lovely person and was most helpful. It was made clear in the room that tea, coffee, cleaning stuff would not be replaced and the room would only be serviced once a week. Interim servicing would cost. Pools were good and it was only a short (block) walk to the beach. The beach had a swimming enclosure because of marine stingers and crocodiles. Toilet ran continually. A 10 minute walk to the supermarket and shopping centre.Put on your hat and sunblock. Great if you like your privacy as there are no staff to disturb you. After a look around I decided that I would go to a cheaper hotel that has the same facilities and provides breakfast as well.

Area recommendations
Because of the need for enclosures to keep out dangerous sea creatures, the beaches are not great around this area. Next time i would probably stay in Cairns itself as long as the hotel has a pool and air-conditioning.
When to go
I went during June and the weather was hot but comfortable.
Getting there
From New Zealand, Air New Zealand has a direct flight (5hrs 40m) on an A320 and there are some inexpensive specials to be had.
Dining
I had a fabulous and not very expensive prawn hot-pot at Chianti's (right opposite Trinity Beach) and after trying their garlic bread I ordered more. Too much butter, too much garlic, it was wonderful.
Outdoors or beach
Beach signs warn of crocodiles and marine stingers and have little enclosures for swimming. Very coarse sand and after a short walk on the beach had worn the skin away under the straps of my jandals/thongs/flip flops. Stick to the hotel pool.

“Sweet vacation spot”

Blue Lagoon is a wonderful, quiet and beautiful place to stay. Just minutes away from the beach, convenience store and restaurants. We loved our room - very cozy and clean. The room had both laundry amenities and kitchen, which helped us save some money on washing our clothes and going out for meals. The staff is friendly and very helpful. And there is a remote control air conditioner in the room! We would definitely come back to Blue Lagoon again.

“very nice location!”

We spend 4 nights at Blue Lagoon (Sept 22-26). Very nice studio , front lake, big TV screen and international sattelite channels. Also fantastic bathroom . The only complain is that have no room service .But who needs room service if you have all that fantastic beachs near??

Traveller's tip
Your life will be better if you rent a car and be free to visit all those beachs between Trinity and Port Douglas. Take all day long!! Will be a very nice experience!
