Simply amazing accommodations! We wanted a place on the beach with wi-fi, close to local restaurants and markets. After doing the research, we settled on Roydon Beachfront Apartments. To our pleasant surprise, the apartment was much larger than we expected, equipped with all the appliances, cookware, and furniture to make ourselves at home. Property Manager Eddie H. arranged all our tours and ground transportation, and provided spot-on recommendations for local restaurants. Everyone at Roydon was friendly, courteous, and professional. We met families who have been making Roydon their home away from home for over 19 years. We can’t wait to go back!
Area recommendations
We recommend Trinity Beach over staying in Cairns because we prefer being close to the beach. First time travelers to the Cairns area may not be aware that the city of Cairns does not have a beach.
When to go
Not sure about other times of the year, but we went in October, and the weather was awesome. The days were getting longer and the temperatures warmer, ranging from 28-30 Celsius (82-86 Fahrenheit) in the daytime. Dives on the Reef had clear visibility – of course, aim for sunny calm days.
Getting there
Trinity Beach is just north of Cairns, about 15-20 minute's drive. You can either take a bus or hire a car. Most tours provide bus pickup next to Roydon Beachfront Apartments.

Must see
There are several tours that offer scuba diving and snorkeling at the Great Barrier Reef. Eddie can recommend a tour to fit your preference. Book early!
Dining
If you like finding great restaurants frequented by locals, Trinity Beach has some good ones. Blue Moon Grill and L’Unico get are top picks. Owen and Karen at Blue Moon provide excellent service!
Family-friendly activities
Trinity Beach itself offers sandy beaches with a life-guarded swim area. There is a children’s play area next to the beach and a sidewalk that spans the beach. The accommodations are mostly apartment style vs. hotels, so it offers more of a residential atmosphere than the city of Cairns, and generally more affordable accommodations than the resort area of Port Douglas.
Outdoors or beach
Roydon Beachfront Apartments overlooks the beach. They also have a nice outdoor pool area with loungers.
