“Would happily return”

The hotel surpassed our expectations. The staff were extremely helpful and friendly. We arrived at 9.30 p.m. on a Saturday evening and missed dinner but they provided us with a substantial cold plate. We thought that the half board buffets were comprehensive and delicious but the drinks with dinner and in the bar were quite expensive. We noticed that the staff were wonderful with little children. The pool area and the beach was superb with free towels and sun loungers, and the little train that shuttled between the hotel and beach was fun, although it was a pleasant stroll that took us no more than 10 minutes (often including photo stops or bird spotting). As we are interested in wildlife, we were pleased to see flamingoes in the lagoon beside the hotel. The hotel provides a free shuttle into Villasimius, a charming little town. We would definitely consider a return visit in the future. Our 7-night holiday was very relaxing and enjoyable.

“Paradise on the doorstep”

Luxurious hotel close to marina and small town. It was all it claimed to be. We went mid June which was ideal, hot enough and not overcrowded. The beach is beautiful white sand with crystal clear water.Half board was great value. The selection of hot and cold food for breakfast and dinner was fresh and top quality and certainly catered for all. The staff were friendly and courteous. With the flight at 2hr 10 and an hours drive from Cagliari airport, this place is "paradise on the doorstep".

“Going back next year!”

My family and I had a great holiday at the Sofitel. We had never been to Villasimius but had read other reviews on this hotel/area and decided to go for it. And thankfully it was a great choice. We have a 7 year-old and a 10 month-old and although the pool area wasn't too child-friendly for our baby the 7-year old loved it. The beach was really nice and both children had fun there. My eldest enjoyed the kids club even though she was the only English-speaking child in there. I loved the buffet dinners. The choice was fantastic and being a seafood lover I was in heaven! The hotel itself was very clean and definitely 5 star although I felt our room let it down a bit. We stayed 7 nights and had a really fantastic time and are planning to go back next year. If you are looking for relaxation, good food and good wine go here! The staff were very friendly and attentive. On the downside, we found the drinks pretty expensive and not a lot to do at night, but for a 7 day holiday we found it perfect.

“Wonderful place”

We have stayed seven nights in a normal room from 4-11 September, 2011. The normal room is nice and spacious, so do not bother with the bigger room unless you have a child. Yet you must avoid sea view rooms as most of them looks over the swimming pool area where each day until 1:00 a.m. there is loud music and dancing. The hotel staff was really friendly, smiling and willing to help you in all cases, however their English is far from being fluent. (that was not a real problem) The hotel is really nicely decorated and clean, fits in five star standards. Forget the other restaurants as they are expensive and serve nearly the same food as you get in the buffet restaurant. The surroundings are really beautiful but even if you have a car everything is too far to take small or bigger excursions. Cagliari is more than an hour although app. 63 kms, other cities would take ages to reach. Therefore after visiting Cagliari which is not something worth the trip although has a nice and typical Italian downtown area, we opted to take a boat excursion instead on the next day. The 'sailing' was nice, worth a day. You may also try the 4x4 excursions that may also be interesting. I would recommend the hotel to anyone but go there off-season (after Aug.28) or maybe before the season as the weather was flawless (30 C) without even a cloud appearing on the skies and the price drops to half.

“Not Bad!”

Good food, good wine & good service in the hotel. But the size of standard double bedroom is rather small and there isn't a bath in the washroom, it's only a little shower. For a 5-star hotel, I'm a bit disappointed!

“The staff's performance was not consistently good”

Beautiful setting and food but the quality of service was varying. The staff could not help with some basic questions (like how to get to the airport). The spa was a bit outdated and overpriced.

“Not bad but probably better value for money elsewhere”

Hotel is well located close to a lovely beach. Staff are very friendly and helpful. There is a good wine list in the main restaurant and food to suit even the most picky of eaters. One can definitely spend a few easy days relaxing here without any stress. Saying that, the hotel does lack a little something for the price and although I am glad I stayed there once (and had a good time), I think there is better value for money in other places where I have been before. It might sound like a small point but the downside is definitely the noise in the hotel rooms. For some reason the "quiet" room I was given had an adjoining door to the next room with a gap under the door. On the 2nd night without sleep I had to ask (at 1 am) to be moved as the guy snoring in the next room was unbearable and the noise travels badly (hotel was full so had to wait bear another night without sleep before getting moved). Also the tiled floor and gaps under the doors meant that even in the next room you can hear every clip of heals coming in at 2am or 3am.
