My husband and I recently stayed overnight at Ixworth House whilst in the area for a family party, and we can't speak highly enough of it. As soon as we pulled up outside John was quick to come out & greet us and show us inside, where Sharyn was also ready & waiting to give us an equally warm welcome. We were shown the breakfast room and then taken upstairs to our room, which was absolutely lovely - modern without compromising the traditional features of the building, very cosy, comfortable, and completely immaculate. The bathroom was gorgeous and absolutely spotless. The bed was very comfortable and we both had a good night's sleep. At breakfast the following morning John & Sharyn were again very friendly, welcoming & attentive, taking the time to chat to all the guests whilst making sure everyone had what they needed. The food was exceptional and made for a lovely end to our stay before heading off home. I really don't have a bad word to say about our stay here - such a lovely couple who strive to ensure all their guests have a very pleasant stay with a real personal touch. We will definitely return if we are ever in the area again with the need to stay overnight. Absolutely wonderful.

The owner was very helpful and did everything she could to make our stay an enjoyable one. The bed was orthopedic and very comfortable. It was a shame that the room wasn't en-suite but there's only two rooms so it's not a problem sharing. Breakfast was delicious!

Most relaxing stay on the first leg of our honeymoon. Set in beautiful Suffolk countryside, breath taking views. The double room and en suite was luxurious and top quality. Enjoyed relaxing breakfast in the lovely country garden. Could not have asked for a better location and setting.

We arrived late after a journey in appalling weather and heavy flooding to a comfortable vernacular farm style house beautifully renovated - some other reviews overly picky about accommodation that really was very good! Did not use any of the leisure/sport activities so cannot comment. Overall an excellent b&b.

Stayed for just the one night, a Saturday, as working locally over the weekend. Having read the previous customer comments, I was slightly worried what I would find, but I was pleasantly surprised. The Manager was very polite and efficient, the room, although small, was perfectly adequate for the one night and came complete with a large TV and nice en-suite. Bed was comfortable and room was clean and ladybird free! The breakfast was fantastic. I chose Eggs Benedict which was very tasty and fresh.
I struggle with some of the other reviewers expectations of The Grange. You get what you pay for and I can only speak as I find - which was it was great and does exactly what it says on the can. I will return again next year...

Check in was a breeze, room was clean, good thermostatic shower, clean towels, comfortable bed. It is a basic sort of place perfect for a bloke on a budget who likes a generous fry up in the morning. The German Sheppard dog is timid and old looking but could put some people off. The pub was lively but not too noisy for me, I had no problem getting to sleep (in room5) with people still out in the beer garden below. Its location was perfect for me; equal walking distance between the town centre and the best pub in East Anglia (The Dove), that otherwise would have been a trek from somewhere nearer the station. I would recommend it to my mates, and I will stay there next time I go to Bury. I wouldn’t recommend it to a family with kids as there are more suitable expensive family orientated places in town. As others have said, it could do with some decoration if you are into that sort of thing, but I went to Bury to spend time in the town, not appraise the carpeting in the rooms above a pub. It’s not a luxury, it is just great value. I was really happy with my stay at The Black Boy.

"A step back in time, with a touch of modern comfor"
A friendly persona will always give a welcoming indication of what to expect from thereon. Nothing was to much trouble for the receptionist on my arrival, I was courteously shown to my room (1) and offered fresh milk for tea. It was obvious that if I had any requirements from that point on all I needed to do was ask. Breakfast at a time I requested was an absolute pleasure with a plate of fresh local produce served piping hot with lashing of tea and an attentive waitress on hand should she be required. Likewise, the evening meal (curry) was served within 7 minutes at the table I frequented in the bar area, and was most enjoyable. My room was clean and homely.
