Central location - just minutes from the Cathedral. My room was slightly over-the-top in terms of its decoration but that was refreshing compared to those chain hotels that are all the same. Nearer a 3 star than a 4. Also anybody travelling to Burgos by train please note that the station has been moved to a far-flung corner and it's a 20 minute bus ride to Plaza de Espana.

Boutique Hotel?

Posted 24-Sep-2012 on Hotels.com
I arrived at about 11 a m and wasn´t given a room until 1:40. I found their attitude terse and the bathroom had been given a quick once¬over. Found a better hotel the next night. The lobby was nice...

Convenient and inexpensive for a four star hotel

Posted 23-Sep-2012 on Hotels.com
A pleasant hotel in a very convenient position to visit central Burgos or walk along the river The parking facilities were very close to the hotel and we managed to see a fair amount in the short time we were there.

Nice Hotel, Horrible Parking

Posted 12-Jul-2011 on Hotels.com
The hotel was in a good location, just over the river from all the sights. Parking was a challenge. It was across the road in a semi-private underground car-park for which you had to fetch the key and return to reception whenever you wanted to move the car. It was down a steep ramp, as is common in Spain, and the spaces were even tinier than most are in Spain. Rent a small car! Compared with most places we stayed on this trip, this hotel was a little on the expensive side.

Good Position

Sited just across the river from the old town (cathedral, plaza mayor, restaurants, bars, etc). Menu del dia (served in evening as well as lunch time) is excellent value.

great location at the right price

Posted 15-Sep-2010 on Hotels.com
Location: The tapas streets off Plaza Mayor. Very lively, and offering the possibility of sampling hearty tidbits and quality local wine at decent prices.
The Melia Fernan Gonzalez was the right choice, a five-minute walk to the fabled Cathedral and just a little longer to Plaza Mayor and the lively tapas district. Pretty easy to find and to get back to the highway, in case you are driving. Room was large and nicely decorated, in a traditional Spanish pattern; service was more than attentive, parking a bit tight, but that is not uncommon in Europe. All at the right price. My only complain would be the outdated bathroom, because of the clogged draining, not because of its appearance; if you fancy the latest in design you must be prepared to pay accordingly, and anyway who travels to Burgos, or to historic sites for that matter for the sake of enjoying the latest trend in toilets and sinks?

Burgos - a good break

Posted 10-Sep-2010
A well-sited hotel within easy reach of all of Burgos attractions and shopping areas. Excellent value evening meals although breakfast (which is wide-ranging and well-presented) a bit on the pricey side. Apart from an initial disappointment with a receptionist (who was later very helpful), staff were friendly and welcoming. Parking in the underground garage is tight for large cars and, until you find your bearings, a bit of a maze. Staff were unaware of the Expedia "free breakfast vouchers" but were persuaded that they were appropriate to their hotel. Overall a good location and excellent value - we will return!
