“Beautiful Hotel In The Heart Of Palermo Buenos Aires”
Without a doubt, one of the best places I have stayed at for a long time. Excellent spacious room, mini bar, microwave and basin, fantastic bathroom, great facilities and very helpful and friendly staff.
“Great Hotel - Fantastic Service”
Great location. Good English.....Nothing too much of a problem. Really eager to help.
“PERFECTION IN PALERMO!!”
We spent the first three days of our August honeymoon at the GLU, and wish we had stayed the whole time! The Glu is sheik and stylish yet cozy, with the most friendly and personal staff we've ever experienced... anywhere! From the moment we arrived, we felt like we were the most important guests. Every time we left the hotel, they rushed in to clean the room and make the bed, somehow without being intrusive at all. They knew our names, asked us about our day, spoke perfect English, and made all of our taxi and restaurant reservations, along with some fantastic recommendations all over the city. They have a nice, late breakfast for free every morning, and offer you coffee or tea every single time they see you. One time, I asked for an iron for my shirt, and they said I could have one, but they were happy to iron it for me for free. I gave them my shirt, and someone ran back up with it within 5 minutes, ironed perfectly! The rooms are big -- big for any place, let alone a huge city. Flat screen TVs, huge beds, cute balconies, ultra modern bathrooms with rain showers. The neighborhood is like if you mixed Old City Philadelphia with Greenwich Village in NY. It's old, yet young, with bars and restaurants and cobblestone streets. It's got a gritty feel at parts, but it's quiet and safe, and beautiful on a sunny day. Taxis everywhere are super-cheap, as well. Stay at the Glu-- we PROMISE -- you won' want to leave!!!
“Top of the line boutique on the edge of Palermo Soho”
The Glu is a beautiful, very modern hotel on the edge of Palermo Soho. -Service was 4* - 5* quality. The staff is very attentive and volunteers to help with anything you need from reservations to directions and so on. They also tidy up the room every time you leave. Also, they knew it was our honeymoon and surprised us with champagne and roses one night, which was an incredibly nice touch. -Room was very comfortable and well appointed with sleek modern furnishings. Very nice bathroom with an impressive rain shower. Very nice linens on the bed. Blackout shades. Minibar with wine glasses, etc. Plenty of storage. -Location is pretty good. It is a bit of a haul to Subte, but cabs are quite cheap and they will call a radio taxi for you. You can walk to the heart of Palermo Soho (tons of restaurants, bar-cafes and shopping) in about 3 minutes, or walk across the sketchy train tracks to Palermo Hollywood (also fun) in about ten minutes. -Breakfast is OK. The dining area is nice. In short, I would love to stay at a place this nice whenever I travel, and it was an excellent landing pad and place to relax during our explorations of BsAs.
“Best Hotel Ever!”
The staff at the Hotel Glu were fantastic. From before we even arrived at the hotel, they helped us arrange transportation from the airport and re-scheduled this when our flight was delayed. For those of you with doubtful Spanish, like me the staff all speaks excellent English, but tolerated my attempts as speaking Spanish. At check in they offerred a drink while filling out the registration forms and while there are set hours for breakfast the staff always asked us if we wanted something to drink or eat whenever we relaxing in the lobby. Their restaraunt recommnedations and directions we also great. Finally since we had a evening flight the day we checked out they even have a shower we could use after a day of sight seeing before taking the car to airport that they again helped us arrange. The location is fantastic you can walk to numerous restaraunts, shops, bars and niteclubs. We had stayed in another part of Buenos Aries a year ago and didn't look forward to returning but the Hotel Glu changed all that, we can't wait to return.
“Impressive service, great location, and comfortable and clean rooms”
Great experience. They were helpful in helping us plan our day trips around the city. The breakfast was really good and they would offer us something to drink upon our return to the hotel. The rooms were clean and comfortable and had a nice balcony.
“Great hotel in great area with a few minor flaws”
This is a very nice hotel, with large, well-appointed rooms and very friendly and knowledgeable staff. It is in the fun Palermo Viejo area, which I recommend especially for people who are already familiar with the more traditional neighborhoods near downtown. You will enjoy your stay here. My only quibble with this hotel is that the service (for the price) could be improved: the maid service awoke us once (relatively) early in the morning when we were sleeping in, and another time they were in the middle of cleaning the place when we came back from breakfast downstairs. In an 11-room hotel without Do Not Disturb signs, you'd hope they'd keep track of whether guests have left. Also, a few minor requests I made (such as fixing the DVD player, which was incorrectly connected to the TV when we arrived) were apparently forgotten or at least not attended to promptly (we ended up fixing the DVD connection ourselves). Also, I *believe* you could stay in an equivalent-sized room at a luxurious 4-star hotel near the city center (e.g. Retiro) for significantly less. I guess it depends on whether you are willing to pay more to stay in a boutique hotel in a trendy neighborhood. If it is your first time in Buenos Aires, being near the center is more convenient to get to the main tourist attractions; on the other hand, Palermo Viejo has a lot of interesting restaurants, nightlife, and shopping, and only a short, cheap taxi ride away from downtown.
