Ideal hotel for the price. Well situated friendly helpful staff
“Korona Korona”
Although I generally like to stay in hotels with more character, with Mercure you can be certain of a good quality standard. The Mercure Korona was actually better than I expected, having staying in various hotels in Budapest over the years I've been forturnate not to have experienced a bad one. Very easy to find, although if you're traveliing by car be sure that you don't miss the opportunity to turn, as you can find that you need to travel into the centre to be able to turn back. Also if arriving by car, make sure your driving skills are up to scratch otherwise the car will be! A corkscrew type car park with only 6 places per level, with only a single road up and the same going down. This said, it just needs a bit of care and attention, although be wary when the hire car company mention they have give you a double upgrade, when actually turns out to be an estate that probably nobody wants to drive in the city. Back to the hotel,I booked 2 rooms for a collleauge and myself. However mine was a "privilage" room which made it slightly awkward, but I'm yet to understand the difference apart from a free bottle of water.Saying that, the room was furnished professionally, very clean although smaller than I expected and experienced previously in Budapest. The reception staff were found to be excellent, even when I was a fumbling mess during checkout & a long queue behind me.Very professional but also very considerate. All in all a good hotel, just be careful or double upgrades!
“GREAT PLACE TO STAY”
This hotel is almost perfectly located. There is a metro and tram stop right on doorstep, Raday Utca, Budapest's restaurant row is across the road, Hotel is very new and is much like any other in that respect. Not for you if looking for traditional. Staff speak excellent English and are very helpful, room clean and well maintained if a little small. Did not eat there so cannot comment on food. I have stayed in many different places in Budapest but this was best placed and one to which likely to return.
“Great value and location!”
This Hotel is close is within a pleasurable walking distance of all the neat areas. Very clean witha most pleasent and helpful staff. Definetly a "keeper" for the future.
“Good value & location”
We were very satisfied with the hotel itself and it's location within walking distance to most attractions and lots of restaurants. Only complaint was the current metro construction right in front of the hotel, making it hard to get to from some directions. Fortunately, the windows blocked most of the construction noise. We would definitely go back there again.
“Would definitely go back”
I was on the top floor with one of only 18 balconies in around 400 rooms - luck of the draw, apparently. Walls appeared to be made of actual brick as opposed to usual hotel glorified cardboard, so another big plus and no noise whatsoever. Air conditioning good. Justified four-star rating. All reception staff were fine bar one, who gave every impression of wishing he had any other job. The mtero is literally bang outside the hotel. Kalvin Square is a bit noisy while they're renovating it, but the room soundproofing is absolutely fine.
“Nice place to stay in Budapest”
The hotel is well located in the Pest side of the city near all the activity. The rooms are very nice and the staff was very helpful and friendly. There is constuction going on outside the hotel which made access a bit difficult.
“Good location hotel in Budapest”
We stayed at Mercure Korona in Budapest three nights and it is a very nice hotel. The rooms were clean, and the service good. We got a privilege room, which felt newly decorated and was stylish - a bit on the small side though. We would recommend staying here as it is very conveniently located.
“small room”
One of the smallest rooms I've ever stayed in. Glad there was only two of us sharing it. Other than that, the room was clean, well appointed, modern, as was the lobby area. The pool was nothing specail, and a bit of a complex journey to find in the neighbouring building. The location of the hotel is probably its best asset. For the price, overall pretty good.
