Nobu Restaurant & Lounge Bar - Innovative Japanese cuisine and sushi includes signature dishes like the Alaskan Black Cod with Miso and Yellowtail Sashimi with Jalapenos. Open daily from noon until late. Reservations are recommended.

“Superb Hotel”

Standard of service was exceptional. The Guest Relations lady, Nicola, and the restaurant staff went out of their way to make this birthday visit one we will never forget.

When to go

Late November a good time as they are into their Christmas markets, which are a lot more interesting than some other places.

Getting there

Used the shuttle minibus to and from the airport which was efficient and easy as well as a reasonable price.

Getting around

Worth taking a walking tour as the tourist sites are easy to visit on foot and short public transport trips

“Smart Hotel”

Could not criticise standard of hotel and staff efficient but there was no warmth, maybe it was too big. Disappointed with pool, very small. Good location and close to City bus tours, even if hotel receptionist told us she had never heard of one of them!

Area recommendations

Budapest is beautiful and very easy to get around the centre.

“Hard to fault”

Nothing to fault at this hotel. Concierge service was first class, booking restaurants at short notice and giving great tourist advice. Location excellent, breakfast fabulous, sauna, pool and steam room welcome at end of day. Nobu restaurant in hotel is also worth a visit.

Area recommendations

We used the two day hop on hop off tourist bus, with river trip, which enabled us to quickly see all the sights, we then decided which we wanted to spend more time at and caught cheap buses or trams or metro. Buying a book of tickets saved time and money. Market Hall worth a visit to buy paprika etc and go upstairs for local snacks. Basilica and Parliament buildings are impressive, plus you need to cross the river to visit Fishermans Bastion area. Plenty of little cafes for good cake and coffee.

“Good central location”

A comfortable hotel with lovely staff in a very convenient location for exploring Budapest. All public tansport within 2 minute walk and easy to explore the City from here. Good local restaurants and bars in walking distance. No garden or outdoor pool is a downside in hot weather and indoor pool is rather small and can be crowded. Would go again

Area recommendations

Castle District for interest, architechture and lots to see and do, including Museums, Fishermans wharf and underground hospital. Margaret Island and Boat trip on River Explore on foot and climb up to the top of the hill and thrn down to Gellert for lunch and a swim in the fantastic baths Indoor market especially if you wnat to self cater

Buy a Budapest Card, all public transport reliable and frequent and this saves complicated ticketing also includes boat trips

“Excellent Hotel”

This was the best hotel we stayed at in Europe. It was excellent in all respects from service to location to comfort etc.

Area recommendations

This hotel is located in Pest and is close (walking distance) to all the main things you would want to see and great places to eat in Budapest. We also went to Buda & this is relatively easy by metro or bus. Make sure you get a map of the city.

“Smoking and Rooms”

Excellent hotel and beautiful city only marred by the wafting of cigarette smoke in public places including restaurants. The Kempinski was no exception. No designated areas for smokers/non smokers. Our room was on the 4th floor and the toilet was reeking of cigarette smoke. We were told the smoking floors were the 3rd and 9th. Ask for rooms form 5-7 so that you are not just above the smoking floors. The Nobu restaurant was pricey but the meal was fabulous.

Area recommendations

The city Centre. Beautiful city, lovely buildings, loads of shops, cafes and restaurants. Did not feel threatened at all in terms of personal safety. Good transportation.
