“Charming boutique hotel”
The Gold Hotel Buda is a small hotel on the Buda side of the river. Close to a bus-stop, it is a quick ride into the city. Even though we arrived early, after paying a small fee we were able to check in without any problems. We booked this hotel because it offered breakfast as part of the tariff, and because of previous positive reviews. The breakfast buffet was varied and plentiful, with hot and cold food to suit all tastes. The hotel is close to a park from which it is possible to walk up to the Citadel should you have any energy left after exploring all the other sites in this amazing city. While not 4 star, I would happily stay there again and would confidently recommend the hotel to my friends.
“Tried Very Hard”
I would recommend this hotel to others if you are willing to stay 2 bus stops from the Pest side of the city...Frank at the front desk was extremely knowledgeable on all forms of transport and Budapest's (or for that matter Hungary) history. His english was very good...If he did not know it he went right on line and found out for us...The front desk also arranged tickets for the Gellert baths and transport back to the airport for our trip home...The hotel is modest by American standards...and very clean.
“Would gladly stay again & highly recommend!”
The staff were extremely gracious, warm, welcoming and most helpful with every detail and need from the very beginning until the morning we left. Our room was cleaned well every day, and the buffet breakfasts were a delicious bonus with fresh pastries, eggs, bread and other treats.
“Good basic hotel”
The staff were friendly, the hotel was clean and rooms were fine. Breakfast also reasonable. Not luxurious but a good basic hotel. A little out of the main city but only a five minute bus ride down to the city itself and buses very frequent.
“would be a pleasure to go back.”
It was a good hotel but was not pleased in the final bill to settle. (reason being on the few first day the receptionist recommeded taxi service and we accepeted to go to our destination but latter found out they had charged us three times the normal rates. Another thing is they had charged us 255 minutes on telephone bill while we had only used 15 to 18 minutes of the bill which was later sorted out. Other than that it was fine.
“Would go there again.”
We wanted a small hotel in the Buda area that was within walking distance to some sites (Castle Hill) and had easy access to buses to get to other places. This hotel fit the bill. The hotel staff was friendly, personable and very helpful. Our room was small but comfortable. The on site restaurant was convenient since there was no others nearby but the food was overpriced and underwhelming. The daily breakfast that was included was great, though! There was also a small convenience store a block away that we visited almost daily for snacks and drinks.
“I love Budapest”
Hotel was ok, although there was no bars in the surrounding area. When we got our room it had twin beds that were at the opposite ends of the room. We asked reception if they had a double room and they gave us a room that had twin beds next to one another. On leaving the bill had a surcharge for an upgrade, we told them it was not explained to us and they recinded the charge. The staff were very polite and Helpful. Use the public transport, it's easy. Hotel is on the Buda side and whilst it is an easy walk to the centre of Pest, it is quite steep if walking back. Enjoy Budapest it is a great city.
“Wonderful Small Friendly Hotel Close to Downtown Budapest”
We stayed recently at the Gold Hotel in Buda to attend a wedding of the daughter of some old friends from Hungary. This hotel is a gem---very friendly and helpful staff, clean and well run, internet access and WiFi available. We'd stay there again!!
“Laszlo”
Very good location but very old builfing. It smells bad, very humid.
“A Must Stay Hotel”
The hotel is beautiful inside and out. The front desk staff is extremely friendly and courteous, going above and beyond to accommodate our needs more than once without us even asking. Their English was great making communication a non-issue. The rooms were comfortable and clean. Located very near public transportation stops and within walking distance to the Citadella and Buda Castle. I would definitely stay here again and highly recommend it to others.
