“Very friendly”
I wanted to choose the location near to the Heroes' Square, the hotel is only 10 min walk though at the same time it is only 10 min on the metro from the main tourist area. Very friendly and helpful staff. The room had everything what you need. I do prefer bath tub, it was a shower in the room, and unfortunately, this wasn't specified when I booked the hotel. The breakfast wasn't included, but it was only 4 Euro and it was worth it. There are plenty little shops and supermarkets almost round the corner, also little cafes which are opened late. We will recommend this hotel to everybody who doesn't mind not to stay in a little hotel.
“Reasonable well located small hotel”
Having previously lived in Budapest for 3 1/2 years and returned on many occasions I know the place well and have stayed in a variety of hotels at every price level. This place is okay if you want a reasonable en suite room in a very good location at a fair price. Positives - it's best aspect is the location - 100m away from the metro line (M1) and a short walk to Liszt Ter, Heroes' Square etc. The room was fairly large and had the benefit of a fridge. Staff were keen to help. Negatives - no air conditioning in room (often the case in Budapest) which is a hassle. Main problem was the noise of the bathroom from the room above - a real shocker whenever the water was being used.
“Excellent budget choice”
I highly recommend this hotel if you are in a budget. I often stay in hostels but for a similar price I had an ensuite twin room in a hotel with complimentary breakfast buffet . The room and hotel was basic but clean and perfectly fine for a short break. The room and ensuite were quite big with plenty of storage. Hotel was staffed 24-7 and they helped with arranging airport transport etc. One staff member in particular had excellent English and was very helpful. Free wifi in rooms plus a computer for guest use in the lobby. Location was good - just off the main street into thecentre of the city (which can be reached either by tram or by walking), but the hotel itself was an a quiet side street that felt safe at night. Nearby there were small convenience stores plus a TGI Fridays. There were more dining choices and a small supermarket within 5 minutes walk. The breakfast buffet was European style (cold meats, bread, cheese, hard boiled egg etc) plus toast, yoghurt and cereal. Available for about 3 hours each morning and restocked during that time. Of course, it's a small independent hotel so without the amenities of a chain hotel such as gym or restaurant, and as expected for the price, the hotel is not dead central so either a walk or public transport is required for most tourist attractions. Plain/basic decor, and the mattresses were a bit thin. Basically, it's a great choice if you're on a budget but not for you if you're used to 5 star luxury.
“Good hotel...helpful and attentive staff”
Nothing bad to say about the hotel. Basic but good and helpful staff.
“OK Place”
Good location The rooms are OK. You get the same breakfast every day. Close to public transportation .
“An OK hotel”
This hotel is OK if you intend to stay for a day or two. My room had NO soap and just ONE medium sized towel and that was it! The water tap in the bathroom sink made a very loud noise when turned on and water left running. This was very annoying. Seems to be a general fault as the room next door had the same problem. I could hear it when they used the tap. The room also felt a little cold. When asked about heating, I was told that is put on in October. But if you are just staying for a day or two, then it is managable. Any longer than that and it would get annoying. Especially with the just the one small towel and no soap. Location wise, it is pretty good. If you go out the hotel and turn right and then right again and walk straight- you will get to Heros Square in about 10 minutes walk. If you want to get to the area where all the shops are, then go out the hotel. Turn right and left this time.
“Good location”
The hotel is close to the Metro, restaurants and hot baths. The weather was great in September when we went. but it would have been too hot in July/Aug as there was no air conditioning in the room
“Simple but Nice”
The Central Dominik has approx 20 rooms and the staff are very helpful. From the street the hotel appears small, but inside the reception gives a great first impression. Breakfast is served in a room seating 24, which can get a little bit crowded. Nice selection of meats (5), cheese (1), bread (3-5 sorts), cereals (5) plus the obligatory tea, coffee and water. No juice but instead two cordials were served. There is a full selection of tour and city guides available in the reception area. The staff are happy to give advice and can also sell tickets. I recommend the Bus Ride as it has a guide on the entire 4 hour route. You get the Parliament building (1hr), the Basilica (half hr) and then a further 2.5 hours around the city. We only had a shower in our room. The hotel location is ideal for a first time visitor, its on a road "Sziv utca" which is directly onto Andrassy ut., one of the main roads through the city leading from the impressive "Heroes Square" up to (and past) the "Octagon junction". Its a 10 minute walk to Octagon, 15 minutes to the Opera House and about 20 minutes from the main railway station. Additionally its less than 5 minutes walk from the Kodaly Korond station on Metrol Line 1. You'll also appreciate that if you want to go to an excellent "spa" then the Szechenyi Spa and Swimming Pool is just 3 stops on Metro 1 route along. Overall a great "1st time stay" hotel, and in a perfect place to let you find your bearings in the compact city of Budapest.
“Good enough.”
Nice hotel for the price. Not in the best part of town but quiet and off the main street with a metro station nearby. Good transport links from the hotel with buses and metro trains very frequent. An excellent base from which to explore Budapest. Staff very, very helpful and ensured a comfortable, pleasant and restful stay. They went to great lengths to help with any issues and gave very good tips on nice restaurants to try. Rooms a bit dated and breakfast menu limited but overall a nice hotel to stay in at a reasonable price. I would recommend without hesitation.
“Good value”
Great value hotel with reasonable breakfast and helpful reception staff. Could have done with an extra pillow but apart from that no complaints!
