“Great hotel”
Second stay at this hotel and as impressed this time round. Nice rooms, clean and comfortable, although a guide to using the air con/heating unit would be useful! Friendly and helpful staff, good breakfast buffet and a really handy location for getting around the city. Definite recommendation!
“Clean, Safe and Convenient”
I am a solo female traveler and this hotel exceeded my expectations. The staff were very helpful and friendly. The room was very quiet, clean and modern. It's close to trams, metro, just a block from the Great Hall and one block from some gorgeous Danube scenery, monuments, etc. Would definitely go there again - the price was very right!
“Good overall”
Although the room was small it was adequate and the decor modern. They have a strange way of 'making' the bed which you have to sort out before you can settle in to it. I found it designed more for show than comfort. There are no tea or coffee making facilities, again rather strange, though luckily I had read this on another review so had packed a travel kettle. For me it's essential to have a late night and early morning drink without having to face the world first. The bathroom was lovely although again rather sparse with the soaps etc. No shower cap supplied, no shampoo or conditioner, or creams of any kind. The breakfast room was far too small for the amount of rooms and just couldn't sit enough people, so the first Sunday morning was chaotic with people waiting for tables, food running out and guests including myself feeling exasperated. Definitely needs reorganised and enlarged. I also found it amazing that the fruit salad wasn't fresh but out of a tin. Catering manager obviously not up to the job. All this aside the position of the hotel was the best thing about it, the staff were excellent but seems they need a bit of leadership. All hotels seem to ignore the female guests and only think of the male guests. Why, although they advertise TV, when it comes to English channels there are only news channels and sport, no entertainment unless you want to pay to watch a movie and even then the selection of 4 were unknown so not worth taking a chance on.
“modern but very small noisy rooms”
It was a disappointment to arrive at a 4 star hotel and be given a tiny room. There was nowhere to sit and no tea and coffee making facilities. Also, the hotel was on a side street which was very noisy
“Highly recommended”
Great hotel in a great location. Staff extremely helpful and friendly. Breakfast is plentiful. Make sure you request a non-smoking room, as we didn't and were given a smoking room. Lots of smoking is done in Budapest restaurants too. To have tea/coffee making in room costs 10 euros a day. Plenty of good restaurants nearby and close to Metro, trams, market and Vaci Street, the main pedestrianised shopping street. Hotel shuttle minibus was efficient and the driver friendly and informative. We would definitely recommend this hotel.
“Gorgeous hotel in great location”
Lovely newly renovated hotel. Perfect location, friendly and helpful staff (when I managed to spill nearly an entire glass of apple juice on the breakfast table (white tablecloth) they were quick to say "no trouble" when I apologised. The rooms are lovely (not excessively large, but modern and beautifully appointed). A yummy breakfast (if slightly crowded if you struck it at the wrong moment). Not sure about the reference to a "resort tax". We were told everything was paid and that we didn't need to pay any extra. Staff were great at providing advice and suggestions of activities. They also sell transport tickets at the front desk.
“Excellent service”
Excellent location, with Vaci Utca just around one corner, the Great Market Hall around another and the Liberty Bridge just across the square. The Gellert Baths are just a stroll across the bridge and you can buy a day ticket from the Zara hotel reception The hotel staff were extremely friendly and helpful. Room was maybe a bit on the small side but was very comfortable and spotlessly clean. The breakfast buffet was standard Euro-fare with rolls, pastries, yoghurt, cereal etc, but plentiful and varied. Would certainly consider staying here again and would be happy to recommend the hotel.
“Can't go wrong”
Great location. Staff was very good. Included breakfast was superb! Room was small but OK.
“Absolutely Impressed!”
I have absolutely no complaints about his hotel. The staff was friendly and extremely helpful (provided great tourist recommendations); the breakfast buffet was more than adequate; the rooms were clean; the location was superb; and there was free use of the internet on the hotel, business center computer. The hotel was situation in a safe area and there was great shopping and restaurants right next to the hotel. There was a huge "bazaar"/market across the street that opened at 0630 in the morning. The hotel is situation near the Danube river on the other side of the bridge from the Rock Temple, Citadel, and Gehlart Spa. I enjoyed my stay in Budapest and, as a strict critic of places, I highly recommend this hotel.
“Great little place”
We spent 2 very pleasant nights at Hotel Zara. The hotel is very attractive, has a friendly and helpful staff, great location for the tourist, and a good breakfast. The only negative is that the rooms are very small. The fact that they are well organized makes this less of a problem. They are very clean and comfortable, except for the size. Free internet in the rooms is also a plus. I would stay at Hotel Zara again and recommend it to other travelers.
