Great place to stay in Budapest. Central position

Posted 14-Nov-2014
Pros: The building and decor
Cons: nothing
Location: Central position using the back streets to get around helps to shorten distances. make sure you visit a ruin bar there are many around.
We had 8 people in our group and everybody thought the hotel was great. The breakfast buffet was fantastic.

Exceeded our expectations

Posted 09-Nov-2014
Pros: Hotel decoration, luxury, exceptional service, breakfast, room, bed, bathroom.
Cons: Nothing really.
Location: The area is very lively with lots of pubs and ruin bars close by, however a bit further away from the main city centre -approx 1 mile walking distance
It was our first time in Budapest. Upon arrival we received a very warm welcome by the hotel staff and checked in very easily. The receptionist was extremely friendly and professional, explained the hotel facilities and offered to help with info around Budapest. We realised that the hotel has 2 sections, 1 is the old style landmark hotel and the 2nd one is a brand new modern building, right behind it. Our room was in the new wing. The room (362) was very large, clean and nicely decorated. Had a large LCD tv, central heating, a king size bed (even larger than king!!), mini fridge, hair dryer, safe and others. The bathroom is also very big, with a separate room for toilet and bidet. Also a very big bathtub with shower with a semi-transparent glass (excellent idea for couples) not really sure how this would work for any other case! We definitely enjoyed it. The only minor drawback (if you wish to compare to other luxury hotels in Budapest) is the hotel's location. The area is very lively with lots of pubs and ruin bars close by, however a bit further away from the main city centre (approx 1 mile walking distance). The transportation connection is excellent as the Blaha-Luja tube station is 1min from the hotel and you can always have the option of tram and taxi - which is very cheap. A one day travelcard for all transport means will cost you approx £4.50.

Excellent hotel for a break in Budapest

Posted 03-Nov-2014
Pros: Modern decor, all facilities were clean and updated.
The atmosphere in this hotel was very nice. The lobby area is eye catching and the New York Cafe is stunning to view. We did not eat in the New York Cafe. The staff could not do enough for us and our only complaint about the room was that we could not turn the heat down so the room was very warm at night. The location of the hotel served our purposes very well. We were able to walk to all of the major attractions in Budapest (we enjoy walking) and we found plenty of excellent restaurants within a 10 minute walk. We would definitely recommend this hotel to others.

Beautiful Hotel

Posted 09-Oct-2014
Pros: Very beautiful and ornate hotel
Cons: The restaurant menu did not have a lot of selection. Introduction of sandwiches would be a good idea.
Location: Location of the hotel was a good long walk to the most of the attractions.
Wow sums up this hotel. Very ornate and beautiful. Breakfast selection was vast and staff really friendly. Bedroom was large with a huge bathroom. On the downside the lunch menu could have had a bit more variety and a good walk to most of the attractions. Even if you stay 1 night it is a must as have never seen a hotel like it.

Would return

Posted 08-Oct-2014
Pros: Staff and location
Cons: Bigger pool
Location: Ruin pubs off the road opposite are fab and a good price (Alcatraz / Fudge) are two I remember. Trip on the Danube and just walking around
Stayed 3 nights over a weekend as a city break. Arranged transfers through the hotel which were perfect. Had drinks a couple of times in the hotel. Loved the relaxing Sauna/Steam Room.

More than just a holiday,

Posted 10-Sep-2014
Pros: The helpfulness and friendliness of the staff. The proximity to public transport to get around this lovely city. The building itself.
Cons: The only very picky comment would be that the coffee and tea at breakfast could have been hotter. Perhaps this is a very British comment?
Location: On the fringe of the historic part of the City, but easy access to all main attractions.
We were booked in to the Hotel for 8 days in a superior room, but at check in were informed that they were able to upgrade us to a junior suite. Just the first of many lovely surprises. The joy of living in this beautifully resorted and historic building, the sumptuous breakfast buffet, the magnificence of the dining areas, the style and comfort of the furnishing, all made this holiday a very memorable experience.
