“Amongst the better hotels”
I've stayed in Brussels regularly and this hotel was one of the nicer ones. The room furniture was a little dated but the double room was spacious, it had a fridge (with free basic minibar), the bed was very comfortable, the heating/cooling was very effective, the bathroom was up to date with respect to decor. The hotel is also right next to shops/metro etc.
“Elegant and convenient”
A beautiful old hotel, the lobby is stunning. Very convenient to the Grand Place square.
“bob”
Well recommend this historic hotel to anyone
“Reasonable hotel, disappointing airline”
Overall Hotel was as expected. But very disappointed with Brussels Airline for cancelling the return flight due at 17:10 by sending a text message AFTER I had already checked in and gone through all the checks. Had to get back out as their customer service in the B gates section was closed (!) even though this was in Brussels airport. Not a single word of apology from any of the staff and had no option but to accept a later flight at 20:40 instead. Quite clearly they had decided to cancel the earlier flight because it must have been quite empty but showed absolutely NO consideration for the passengers. WILL DEFINITELY NOT USE THAT AIRLINE - a gentle word of apology would have done something to soothe the annoyance. This made a holiday rating of 4 out of 5 plummet to only 2 out of 5. I do not go on holiday to be stuck in an airport because of a miserly airline more interested in cutting their expenses.
“THE centre to visit Brussels”
Contrary to some earlier reviews, I did not find find the Metropole tired and run-down. The rooms are modern and well-kept and, for the money, positively spacious. The foyer and café out front are beautiful. I shall never use any other hotel in Bussels - and I've use a few.
“Very convenient location, some of concier services could be better”
Location is close to Grand Palace, and shopping center with subway and bus stations close by.
“Wonderful Hotel”
We had a wonderful time at this hotel. It was the perfect location and the staff could not be nicer. Our room was actually larger than we expected.
“A week in Brussels at the Metropole”
The hotel is within walking distance of the Grand Place and many other tourist venues. The lobby is amazing. The style and painting are excelent. Brunch was included with our expedia rate. Altough the food was different than I am used to at home, it was good and there was a wide selection. The service at the brunch was excelent with my coffee cup being filled regularly. The hotel does not have a business center where I could check in online for my flight home. To offset this the staff allowed me to use one of their computers and printer to print the boarding passes. The included wifi worked well for my smart phone and laptop. Our room was very clean and well laid out. The furnishings were older and the room could use a decorating update. The decorations did not look anything like the pictures on their web site. We can only assume we got a room that had not been redecorated in 20 or 30 years. The only maintenance complaint was the drains on the sinks did not work properly. Overall we had a good stay.
“Great place to have a drink, but overpriced and check room before accepting it.”
I only stayed at the Metropole for one night, so perhaps that's why they put me in a room on the first floor facing a brick wall (#1018). Okay, I guess someone has to stay in that room, and it was only one night. But as dinner time neared, a definite cooking smell wafted into my room. Then at the crack of dawn, people started dragging noisy carts up and down the alley below, making it impossible to sleep. I would have communicated this to the hotel if they had asked, but they didn't. Gorgeous and grand public rooms, but an overall stuffy, corporate vibe. Definitely overpriced for what I received.
“Lovely Hotel”
The hotel is very nice. The location within 10 minutes of the Grand Place is excellent. The only warning is regarding the Metropole Cafe. It is located in the front of the hotel and has outside seating. The food is below average. The waiter stated that the cafe rents space from the hotel and is not a part of Metropole. It shows
