"Amazingly beautiful hotel with top-notch services"
Metropole Hotel is extremely beautiful with top of the line, 5-star service, located in the heart of Brussels and within close walking distance to many of the cities best attractions. We loved our stay and would DEFINITELY stay here again.
The lobby & courtyard bar are beautiful in an upscale way. The female front desk staff were fine but the males had that French superior attitude like you don't belong here unless you are overtly wealthy...and speak French. On our check out after 3 nights, the young man on duty didn't ask how our stay was, printed us a receipt with little info and then busied himself with another task, so we didn't even know if we were finished. The room was a good size, overlooking the courtyard where the drunk women's voices carried. Thankfully this ended before 11:00 pm when we tried to sleep. On arrival, we were able to check in early. The deadbolt didn't work so we called and they sent a maintenance guy who determined it needed a new plate on the doorframe. We had to wait for this repair as they took out the old one so we had no lock on the door. Then we discovered the light over the sink in the bathroom was out so called and they put in a new one. The next morning the tub drained so slowly we ended up standing in about 1/3 of it filled with dirty water. We reported this at the front desk where the male staff member told us we needed to turn the knob that controls the drain plug as if we didn't try that. We actually removed the drain plug altogether and it didn't help. He said he would tell the cleaning staff to look into it but they never fixed it. We just dealt with it rather than complain again. I guess the previous guests didn't care. Location was good for walking everywhere.
Easy to get to from Central Station (5 minutes walk)
Nice Clean modern Hotel, Room was good, We were at the back of the hotel, overlooking a big smurf.
Bathroom had separate shower and bath. Toilet was separate (no sink though)
Good buffet Breakfast (We got our breakfast included with the room).
Great central location to get about from. Nice square when you walk out the front door. A few market stalls at the weekend. Also has bar and restaurants in the square.
Pocket Guide: Brussels Brussels Grand Place Hotels
A heart-shaped ring road defines Brussels’ city core, and most of its visitor attractions. Within these limits, the centre consists of two distinct halves. To the west is the Lower Town, a tangle of medieval streets centred on the Grand Place, a vast cobbled square surrounded by ornate Flemish buildings. To the east is the newer and more aristocratic Upper Town, a zone of palaces and parks, grand museums, and gothic churches.
