Our Eurostar was cancelled due to the strike the other day so we had to find ourselves a hotel in Brussels for the night. We went onto Expedia and picked the Metropole because of price and location. We were very pleasantly surprised when we arrived. The hotel has old world charm, the room was really clean and comfortable and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Thanks Metropole - it was a pleasure staying at your hotel. Your staff are a credit to you.
Good location. Lots of things to do close by/all within walking distance.
Friendly staff. Well informed.
Room needs a need shower. No AC in room. Elevator broken had to walk down 3 flights with large/lots of luggage. No help available.
Clean. Simple. No frills. Bright and airy.
Lovely modern hotel, walking distance to old town and next to metro/train stop
Decor was modern, inviting, spacious room with king bed, & good value for standard rated room.
Staff was extremely accomadating and would stay again
This hotel was located in a perfect spot for us. It is a 2 minute walk to the train station and only 15 minutes to the Grand Place. The staff was nice enough, but didn't offer any information or recommendations. The room was decent, but the bathroom was so smelly. It smelled like someone left a dead fish in the drain.

I don't normally stay in chain hotels, as I prefer the charm of independent hotels. This The Novotel Tour Noire, however, is one of the best hotels I've stayed in. The staff is helpful, friendly and patient. The rooms are large, modern and well-appointed. The included breakfast buffet is a true feast with just about anything you could want. The small indoor pool, spa area, and sizable exercise room is nicely done. Great open business center with I-macs. Steps away from La Borse, Easy walk to many of the major tourist sites and shopping. Really a great place to stay.
Booked a room but was allocated a studio, which was situated next door which wasn't a problem. The studio was new and clearly just renovated. It was more style over substance the fancy arched lamp couldn't reach a socket. The studio had a full functioning kitchen with kettle, toaster and microwave but unfortunately no tea or coffee, which is usually standard in a hotel bedroom!! As the studio was newly renovated the hotel policy was to take a €200 deposit, again this was fine as we didn't intend breaking anything!! but it's a huge problem when the holding deposit takes so long to refund and then puts your current account into a charging overdraft.

We arrived in Brussels on a busy day. The concierge was most helpful in arranging the parking of our car. The room was clean and a good size and we'll furnished - great bed, bathroom and plenty of TV stations.
Pocket Guide: Brussels Brussels Grand Place Hotels
A heart-shaped ring road defines Brussels’ city core, and most of its visitor attractions. Within these limits, the centre consists of two distinct halves. To the west is the Lower Town, a tangle of medieval streets centred on the Grand Place, a vast cobbled square surrounded by ornate Flemish buildings. To the east is the newer and more aristocratic Upper Town, a zone of palaces and parks, grand museums, and gothic churches.
