“Great staff and location”

The Pand Hotel was a great place to stay for exploring Bruges, due to its excellent location. In a recent visit (Nov 2011) I found the staff to be very helpful and had a good attitude. The decor and quality of food are excellent, especially the breakfast, but also the hotel has a nice albeit small bar, plus a warm and comfortable lounge. If you are travelling light, it is within walking distance from the rail station, so no need for a taxi.

Must see

Before climbing the Belfy stairs, check that the weather is not too cloudy or misty, as the view may not be worth it!

“An outstanding hotel and hotel experience”

This hotel exceeds expectations on every aspect. The staff are exceptionally professional and helpful, and the rooms are out of this world. The best aspect to all this is the amazing champagne breakfast, with more food than you can eat but somehow you manage to finish it all. The service at breakfast is exemplary, and we felt really looked after. The bar and lounge in which to relax are also amazing. We would definitely return without question.

The whole place is amazing, and The Pand hotel is the perfect location from which to explore the whole town of Bruges. Step out of the hotel and find yourself staring at the most picturesque and most photgraphed part of the town

“Excellent small luxury Hotel”

The location was fantastic. The public rooms were decorated in a very charming, warm way. Our room had a great view of the church tower. It was very romantic! The staff members were extremely helpful with all our needs! We highly recommend it and would stay there again if we we in Brugges!

Can't go wrong with most hotels here since I think they are all within walking distance to the main attractions!

Have good walking shoes and take the canal ride!

“perfect place in bruges..”

This is a fantastic place. the friendliest 'hotel' i have ever stayed in. classically beautiful and quiet. i say 'hotel' as is actually a guesthouse / b&b. forget staying in plush ridiculously expensive hotel with not character, this beautiful little period place is far superior. you feel really looked after with only 20 rooms.. and nothing is too much trouble either. all mod cons. perfect location too for a weekend away.. romantic or not. really not expensive for what you get. i cannot endorse enough.

it's all so small you can walk round in an hour.. just walk around and you'll find your type of areas. you cannot get lost!

“I would definitely stay here again”

Extremely helpful and friendly staff, very well located for seeing Bruges, room excellent although bathroom not suitable for reading a broadsheet newspaper on the toilet.

Area recommendations

The centre is small - see it all! I would recommend doingone of the walks around the city Berjties Beer bar is a must. Great city for a romantic break but watch out for nutters on bikes!

“Will stay there again”

Really enjoyed Bruge and hotel was lovely. Only one minor point and this is just being ultra picky for a luxury hotle the towels coould be better. Larger and softer!!! The quality of the linen at breakfast is superb and the towels juts don't match up. Staff were excellent, could't do enought for you and watching breakfast being cooked on the aga is superb!!!

“Certainly Small, not so sure about Luxury”

The Pand is superbly located, a very short walk from the Bourge and then the Markt, and right opposite a canal cruise pick-up point. A wide choice of superb restaurants are nearby. The staff are very friendly and helpful, and the place has the atmosphere of a family home. The downside is simply that, unless you stay in a suite, the rooms are very small and there are none of those traditional hotel comforts which make a difference - no dressing gowns, a poor selection of toiletries. There is no real service in the delightful public rooms, as it runs on a very small staff complement - but you can always pop over to the reception and find someone to fetch a drink. Overall, a nice hotel, but perhaps slightly over-hyped.

Area recommendations

Best to stay in the old quarter, almost free of traffic. Make sure you walk along the canals, including out on the ring canal by the windmills. A nice way to pass a sunny day is to walk to Damme, have lunch and walk back - 5 km each way from the ring canal. The major art gallery is a must-see.

Dining

We ate at the 3 Michelin star Die Karmeliet, which was awe-inspiring (although the service was far too slow on the night we were there); the 1 star Gouden Harynck, outstanding; and a fabulous small bistro, Couvert, run by a charming owner.

“Superb service, ideal location”

The PAND is comfortable, quiet and very close to the key museums and galleries in Bruges. The service at the front desk and in the breakfast room is friendly and superbly efficient (in English and several other languages). They serve great breakfasts and book you into good restuarants for dinner. My only difficulty was clambering into the bath for a shower, but younger people will have no trouble.
