“Delightful Get-Away in Brugge”
We couldn't have been more pleased. The room was large, quiet (facing the garden), very romantic. They provided a very up-to-date travel crib for our 8 month old. The wi-fi was slow and the hotel was small so no big hotel amenities--but those things also fit with Brugge and the feeling of being away from our usual busy life.
“Good hotel and staff very helpful”
The hotel was in the main comfortable, but there was a terrible smell in the corridor leading to our room and in the room. Fortunately, we had patio doors which opened on to a concealed garden so could open to rid us of the foul smell. Facilities to make tea or coffee is something you expect in a **** hotel, not this one.
“martins relais review”
The hotel was lovely and cosy and the staff were friendly and welcoming. We had problems with one of the rooms we stayed in - room 5 - with the hot water supply and lighting. The staff were not good at getting this sorted out despite be asked several times.
“Lovely place to stay”
Quiet and charming location yet only 5 minutes walk from the Markt and main areas of Bruges which suited us fine. Staff were extremely helpful and efficient and spoke very good English which is always a help. Room had garden view and was very clean and charming - just a few downsides for us. The double bed was clearly one which could be split into two and whilst we knew this might be the case, there was a distinct ridge which wasn't particularly comfortable! Storage was also an issue - only very small cupboard area in which to hang your clothes (no chest of drawers or anything) so ended up leaving a lot of stuff in the cases. Charming effect of the room (wood panelling, nice bathroom fittings, overall decor) and hotel generally (lots of antique type furniture, pictures, etc) was also let down somewhat by the bedroom's very cheap (and wobbly) bedside tables and television desk. But none of these were showstoppers and overall, we really enjoyed our stay at this hotel, would use it again and would recommend it to others. Felt the breakfast cost was a little steep and made the decision to skip it and eat in Bruges. Good call as there are plenty of places around within the locality which offer a substantial breakfast at a good price.
“Underwhelming”
I think there are better deals available in Bruges. It's an expensive town, to be sure, but I think this hotel is over-priced. Certainly the charges for breakfast and internet seem unreasonably high. Practically every hotel in Bruges is well-located, so location of this hotel (on a canal) is no real advantage. Next time I would try elsewhere. Oh: we had mosquitoes. As we were checking out the staff (who was, by the way, helpful) told us they have 'electrical devices' to repel mosquitoes. Should have known at the outset.
“Best hotel I've stayed in for years!”
The hotel was one of the best I've ever stayed in. And the price was extremely affordable too. The hotel is absolutely charming and more than we expected with original decoration, a gorgeous garden in back, beautiful canal view in front, original wooden rafters and floor boards, etc. The staff were professional, helpful and fun to talk to. They pointed us in the right direction and made sure all of our needs and concerns were addressed. Should I ever visit Brugge again I will absolutely stay in this hotel again. The only complaint one may have is it's about a 20 minute walk from the train station...but when you walk through a gorgeous medieval town you lose track of time.
“Great staff”
It was a simple 45 minute walk from where we were dropped off at the train station. Check in was very smooth with our room being ready for us when we got there at about 10am, even though check in wasn't officially until 3pm. We were able to check out in the morning and leave our luggage safely in the hotel until that evening. From arriving at the hotel until leaving, we were dealt with by helpful, friendly and professional staff who provided us with a map and discount card for Bruges excursions. The room itself overlooked a small, quiet garden area and was large, clean and had everything we needed and more. The bathroom was huge and the shower was fantastic. We arrived back late after a night out and were let in by a very friendly security guard. We would definately recommend to anyone.
“Good hotel in an excellent location”
Good hotel. Newly renovated large rooms and friendly staff.
“Charming and friendly”
The hotel was a short walk into the main square in town. Staff was very friendly. I would stay here again.
“Nice hotel in convenient location”
Was a nice hotel. We enjoyed our stay alot. Bruges is a very small city so nothing is ever far away but this hotel was a two minute walk to the Market and Burg but still in a very peaceful road overlooking a canal. We didnt eat at the hotel as there are so many great restaurants and cafes nearby but the room was always clean (however they dont seem to have a double mattresses - just two big single mattressess on a double frame). We didnt really use any of the facilities as we spent all our time out and about but staff were really friendly, always happy to answer questions and show you where tp go, and even lent us an umbrella on the one day it rained. Great city, great hotel and great holiday!!
