“a very dated hotel”
The hotel was in a convenient place for exploring Bruges which is a lovely place. Not impressed at all with the breakfast, it was identical everyday and the bacon, egg and sausage was always cold. I also thought the waitresses in the breakfast area were very unfriendly and miserable., as was the woman who cleaned the room. We stayed for 3 nites in the Maid's room which was very small but ok i suppose for a short stay. I would not have any meals or food in any of the restaurants in the main square as they are an absolute rip off. I would not stay at this hotel again if i was to go back to Bruges.
“Great hotel - great location”
Charming period house , well run with lots of original features. Room was spacious and full of character - a 'Knight's Room' (the standard grade). Breakfast is excellent with lots of choice, served in a bright room. Location is excellent, minutes away from main areas but also very quiet at night.
“Great hotel in great area!”
We chose the Jan Brito based on other people's reviews so wanted to add to the already glowing reviews! After an easy Eurostar journey to Brussels but a-bit-trickier-to-find train into Bruges we took a taxi from the station to Jan Brito which was 8 euros and definitely worth it as it was rather cold being December! The hotel is centrally located, less than 5 mins walk from the belltower, and very homely & quaint in a listed building. Our Knights room was gorgeous, with wooden beams, a huge bed and very nice bathroom. Super clean, comfortable and the heating worked very quickly. Downstairs they have a lovely lounge area with open fires, comfortable chairs and a small bar. It's a shame that the hotel only do breakfast and nothing else as restaurants tended to close quite early so one night we found ourselves unable to get any food but as long as you know this you will be fine! As others have said, the breakfast is great. Typical continental buffet with everything you could want from cooked breakfast to cereal, pastries and cereals. Overall Bruges is a beautiful city to visit, and this hotel is a lovely place to stay. We will definitely stay there again if we visit the city again.
“Can't fault this hotel”
Booked a Duchess room. 2 floors, lounge with TV and large hallway downstairs, bedroom with TV + bathroom with large bath and separate shower upstairs. Very good breakfasts. Short walk to Burg square. Helpful staff let us have (free) jugs of milk for our tea and looked up train times and restaurants for us. Not cheap but then nowhere is in Bruges.
“Great Location in Lovely Bruges”
Can't fault this place - five minutes walk to the central square, lovely building, excellent staff - after some very bad experiences in Brussels this was an enormous relief! Highly recommended.
“Friendly, well situated hotel with elegant decor.”
We found the staff very friendly, rooms clean and comfortable, breakfast very good and really enjoyed our stay here. It is situated within a 5 minute walk of the square and near the Beerwall which we would recommend. Car park only a 3 min walk away. A group of us stayed here over 5 rooms and all enjoyed our stay. A lovely hotel that I would go back to.
“Bruges bargain”
4 star modern comfort in period architecture and location, excellent service - booking restaurants, taxis etc, and top rate breakfast - all for a very reasonable price.
“Cute place, great location”
We were really happy with our room here, and it was a really good location for wandering around Brugge.
“Great hotel”
We loved our stay here - the room was clean and tidy, small but not too cramped. Good range of fresh foods, hot and cold, for breakfast , in a lovely dining room looking out over the beautiful gardens. The location was excellent, right next to a gorgeous canal and a short walk into town. The staff were very helpful. All round a great find. Good value too.
“nice little hotel”
The Jan Brito is located on a side street, just 2 streets from the beginning of the "tourist area". It's a charming hotel, lots of atmosphere, the staff was welcoming, and the breakfast was excellent. I'd have no hesitation in going back. Upon check-in I was given a little card which provided discounts for museum entrances, as well as the boat ride around the canals. If you are only there for the day I'd say skip the museums, and just wander around the old town. However, must-sees are the Stadthuis, the Church of our Lady (home to one of Michelangelo's Madonna and child statues), as well as the Church of the Holy Blood.
