We had been in UK visiting family, and in preparing for this trip we decided to fly in and out of Paris. So the Bruges visit was a stop over on the way to CDG airport. We stayed 4 nights and explored Ostend, Bruges and Brussels.
Hotel Asiris was selected on the basis of Expedia listing, and I knew there was no lift (elevator) and our room was in a converted attic. 67 steep steps from the foyer level to our room door. The room is advertised as small, and the sloping ceiling along 2 sides means you have to bend over in places to avoid banging your head.
It is a good place to stay, clean and tidy.
The sloping ceiling severely limited the use of the shower in the en suite. Either have a bath, or kneel or sit in the bath to use the shower as the headroom is very limited. There was no shower curtain or wall to stop water spraying out across the floor if you stand.
Ventilation to the room is through a large tilting window set into the sloping roof, but there is no means of controlling the tilt / size of opening. Fortunately the opening is mostly behind a large chimney which prevented the strong winds blowing straight in.
Good quality breakfast provided each day, of the Continental type. The dining room is beautifully decorated with a range of interesting items.
The Landlady is pleasant and helpful. The hotel is about 40mins walk from the station, 10 minutes from Market Square. Mostly we used the buses, but got a taxi from the station to the hotel on first arrival. 12 euros.
