beware, charged on my card after I paid cash

Posted 18-Mar-2015
Pros: The Lounge, and location. To be fair, Bruges is so small everything is near. If I had known before I would have chosen a hotel with views to the canal
Cons: customer service, deco, WIFI, mushrooms in breakfast, vegetarian sausage..
Location: Bruges is lovely and it has a lot to see, my favourite thing was the Dali museum and Market Square, I found most locals to be very rude to tourists
I booked through expedia, selecting the option of paying cash at the hotel. I had to put my card details on expedia in order to reserve the room. After reading tripadvisor reviews I requested to be given a room on the back of the building as we would like a full night of comfort sleep and if possible in the renovated rooms, since I read on a review someone else left, they have old and newer rooms on the hotel. The woman on reception answered with a patronising tone, 'this is just a 3 star hotel, is not a luxury hotel' which I didn't appreciate. On the breakfast room they have a rude note saying, 'making lunch boxes is not allowed'. I have never seen such a note anywhere else before, I am not the lunch box making kind but I found it quite offensive since they seem to think all their guest are not educated, and in the end of the day, guests are paying for food that gets served. I took a small croissant with me ignoring the message, anyway. Rooms were old and outdated, but fairly clean and comfortable. Other staff members were nicer than this woman, but one annoying thing is that WIFI doesn't work on the room so you need to go to the lounge to connect. At least they were playing nice classic music After I paid in cash for three nights at the hotel, I got charged on my bank account the same amount I had paid already. I got a vague excuse from the hotel, waiting for refund. Breakfast was ok, mushrooms would have been great if they served any.

A weekend trip

Posted 28-Feb-2015
Pros: Rooms are clean and toiletries and hairdryer are provided. The breakfast which is provided caters for all.
Cons: Unfortunately as this hotel is an historic building , the floors are wooden and so you can hear people walking around on the floops above.
Location: Lots of fine dining, with good food. Trips on the canal and lots to see.
We stayed at this hotel in 2006. And knew from experience that it was close to the centre of Brugge. The weather was not the best but did little to dampen our visit. The downside to this beautiful hotel is the local night club, which can be heard in the room.

Good location, comfortable room

Posted 02-Jan-2015
Pros: Location, breakfast
Cons: We arrived early before check in and the gentleman on reception was quite abrupt and unwelcoming.
Location: Short walk to main square and restaurant's. Close to bars - which made it a little noisy at night
In general nice stay. Good breakfast, comfortable room, good location.

Lovely hotel, central location

Posted 16-Dec-2014
Pros: Great location - just far enough from the main square to avoid the noise but close enough to get there quickly on foot! Easy walk from train station.
Location: We visited the Belfort, Frites Museum and Choco Story Museum, did a boat trip and strolled around all the lovely streets, very enjoyable!
We were really pleased with our stay at the hotel for the first week of December (Monday - Friday). Easy to find and not far from the main square everything we wanted to see and do was within a couple of minutes walking distance. Our room was ground floor, very comfortable with a lovely big bathroom. Good selection at breakfast and the dining room was very pleasant to start the day in. Staff were helpful when we asked about doing a boat trip, giving us a map and directions to follow to get to the correct place. Sadly we missed our first nights stay at the hotel thanks to a transport strike in Brussels!!

In the centre of Bruges

Posted 03-Dec-2014
Pros: Location, staff
Cons: Needs updating but this would affect the price
Location: Right in the centre of the city - plenty of sights on your doorstep
Our room was available early and the staff at the hotel couldn't be any nicer. The hotel feels a little 'tired' but the bed was comfortable, bathroom clean, breakfast included and we were bang in the centre of town - opposite our car park. Perfect

Good central position and yards from and bar.

Slightly fading elegance but really nice and helpful staff, and close to the town centre.
