Cleanliness to a new level

Posted 27-Jul-2014
Cleanest hotel I've ever stayed in, and I've stayed in a lot of nice hotels around the world considerably more expensive. Great location, beautiful hotel, superb value. I plan to return to Bruges as the place is incredible. I will be staying at the Grand Hotel Casselberg without doubt.

One of the best hotels that I ever hosted in

Posted 17-Jul-2014
Pros: Location, Decor, Service
Location: Grand Hotel Casselbergh Bruges is located in the center of historical Bruges, a minute from the market center and the Stadhuis
Grand Hotel Casselbergh Bruges is located in the center of historical Bruges, a minute from the market center and the Stadhuis. The service of the front desk was impeccable throughout our stay and any need that we had, was provided. The room was better than promised. Since we are a party of 4, we took the Quadruple duplex room that looked great in the hotel’s pictures. In reality it looked even better! A two story highest room with an internal staircase with wood all over and most comfortable beds and furniture. The bathroom was terrific with L'occitane products. The breakfast was very good as well.

Maria....Co Durham

Pros: The hotel is very clean and beautifully appointed and its location could not have been better.
Cons: The annoying buzz of the air conditioning running through the new part of the hotel.
Location: The location of this hotel is in the perfect spot . It is in the heart of the city only two minutes walk from the market square.
Had a three night stay at the Grand hotel. In a perfect location for looking round the lovely city of Brugge. The hotel is a picture, clean, quiet and the staff were lovely. We where in the new part of the hotel overlooking the canal. The room was very nice but had a annoying buzz from what we thought was the general air con of the hotel. This went on all night therefore we did not sleep to well. The bathroom was first class. The stay included breakfast which was served in the lovely dinning room. There was plenty of choice with English style and continental breakfast available all very nice. All in all would not hesitate to make a return visit.

Good, but...

Posted 12-Jul-2014
We asked the front desk for ideas on tours and were told to go to the Tourism Office in main square for advice. We were given a map and told where to go. Never found it. There's no concierge and no bellboys to help you with luggage. The gym was the worst we've seen on our trip. Room was hot, no towels, equipment smelled, treadmill didn't work, no tv or music only one weight machine. Location is excellent.

Do not waste money on canal view rooms

Posted 07-Jul-2014
Pros: The opulent surroundings in the general areas/bar and location.
Cons: The staff need to be re-trained. So unfriendly and surely! And incompetent.
Location: So close to Markt square and Belfry tower.
As we were celebrating our 1st wedding anniversary, we decided to treat ourselves to a trip to Bruges and booked a canal view room here. The hotel is in an excellent location, close to Markt square/Belfry tower. The decor is really opulent and grand with lots of ornate chandeliers all over the place. Our room was in the new part of the hotel. The room barely had a view of a canal. There was a car park on immediate view and a slight side view of the canal from the distance. Not romantic at all. I have a better water view from my flat in London as I live by the Thames. So there's no point 'splurging' on this category of room. The room was well appointed. The bathroom was really modern and nice with a separate tub and walk in rain shower which was amazing. The best part was the L'Occitane toiletries. However, the room itself didn't offer complimentary water or a Nespresso machine that a lot of hotels of this calibre do. Breakfast was adequate but unexceptional. Many hotels make a special effort when guests are celebrating their honeymoon or anniversary. No such service from this impersonal hotel. The staff were incompetent and unfriendly. We got some drinks at the bar and then left the money with the bartender who obviously failed to record the transaction. The next time we went to the bar, the waiter very loudly accused us of 'forgetting to pay' on the previous occasion. I was mortified as everyone in the room could hear. No complimentary drinks for the false accusation!

Gorgeous hotel in fantastic location!

Posted 05-Jul-2014
Pros: Everything!
Location: Perfect location close to the main square and all the sights.
The Grand Hotel Casselbergh is a beautiful hotel in a great location, only minutes from the main squares. Check in was smooth. The staff were polite and friendly. Breakfast was included in the price and there was a very good variety. It set us up for the rest of the day! This hotel had a very luxurious feel to it with a huge chandelier in our bedroom and in the other rooms. The bar was a lovely place to finish off the evening and they do very good cocktails! Bruges is a beautiful place to visit and this hotel was the perfect choice for a perfect weekend.

Old world modern

This hotel exceeded our expectations in every way. A very nice room with a nice view, comfortable tub and relaxing shower. The breakfast buffet was a great start to the day and the bar with Luis was a great ending. He also gave great advice on restaurant choices and activities. Trains were on strike the day we were to leave. The hotel advised us right away and Bo found us a car service and arranged our transport to Brussels. A
