“Value for money”
Bar prices and breakfast charges are on the high side, but there are options close by. Friendly helpful staff and neat & clean rooms. Very convenient for walking to Temple Meads station and it has its own secure car park.
“A really great hotel experience - and i don't usually leave reviews!!”
Sorry this is rather long but it is worth reading on:- This was the best value and best appointed hotel i have experienced for a long time. The staff were informed, well trained and very attentive and helpful all the time; the food in the restaurant was very high quality; the location was ideal for being central to the city and river in Bristol yet (in the rear rooms) on a quiet side road. The idea of having an iMac in every room is knock-out. i am a recent Mac convert but after your stay all you PC folk will be too! The only downside was that the room size and bathroom were a little tight - but I am used to USA hotels and by UK standards this was OK. The huge bed (with great linen) took up the space and so you may like that. If a hotel is weak I tend not to comment - people will find out and so many folk out there are more keen on complaining than on praising. In this case I wanted to flag this hotel and this chain for their keen attention to design, detail and service. Long may they set a new standard for other chains to attempt to emulate.
“Safe choice for comfortable short stay in city centre”
Comfortable hotel with great wi-fi access
“Great hotel, very impressed (except for the car parking on a weekend)”
The Mint Hotel, Bristol, is a great hotel in a great location. The room was a reasonable size and was decorated and maintained to a high standard. To my amazement, they had an Apple Mac in room! This was used for watching TV and internet surfing and use as a computer. The hotel also had free wifi, which was a great bonus too. Food from the City Cafe downstairs was also of a high standard. Only downside was the limited availability of parking. We went during a weekend and were lucky to get the last parking space. Would have been a chore to have had to find parking elsewhere. Overall, a good experience with the hotel and it was definitely better than I expected. I would certainly recommend this hotel; but good luck with the parking space on a Saturday evening though!
“The name says it all- 'Mint'”
I stayed in a Mint Hotel in Leeds and chose the same brand as I was so impressed. Bristol Mint did not disappoint! It was located 5 minutes walk from the train station and a pleasant 10 minute stroll into town. I checked in straight away and was asked if I knoew how to use the entertainment system. As I had stayed before I did, but if you are not familiar with Apple you will not have a clue! Good that they ask. You get free internet!!! Room was lovely and clean and very up to date.. Has an iron and an ironing board in the room which many hotels don't. Only downside would have to br the price of the breakfast- 15 pounds a head, and I didn't even have the full English! I would definately stay again and would recommend it, I would just say have your breakfast at the Kings Temple (the Wetherspoons pub opposite) for a quarter of the price!
“conveninet for railway station and nearby offices”
A modern well appointed hotel catering for business people and to a lesser extent tourists. Easy acess to the legal are of Bristol and a 10 minute walk to the shopping precinct. Reatuarant and bars provide a rnage of meals and appear well run. Staff were helpful, even though not familiar with Bristol as a tourist destination.
“Good location and value”
Only stayed for one night. As the rooms are small, the hotel is best suited to a short stay or a room for one person, if staying longer. Compared to other hotels of this type, the room was very well appointed, (computer - tv/radio/dvd player, ironing board & iron, quality complementary toiletries). The provision of an Apple Mac and free internet access sets a standard other chains should take note of! Did not eat at the hotel so cannot comment on the cafe.
“great place to stay at a reasonable price”
The hotel is located within walking distance of all major central spots in teh city. c5 min from the train station which has a direct connection to paddington in london that runs every 30min. the hotel has small but very efficent rooms that are clean and high tech. staff are freindly. The food is as expected in a overnight business hotel ie a bit of everything. hotel price per night is fair the food prices in the hotel are the same in most bristol hotels. there are many great places to dine vs feed nearby.
“Ok for the night, location not too great to experience the highlights of Bristol”
On arrival - be careful if wishing to park your car as you may have to go to a pay and display car park - the procedures are not very clear which is frustrating - not the best way to be welcomed. For a 4 star hotel - you expect a 4 star service... not received. I have been to 2 & 3 star hotels that have offered more. The staff were not overly helpful either and in a way were rude at reception except 1 guy. Went out of the hotel at night to get something to eat - didn't fancy the high priced meal in the hotel. A 5 minute walk will bring you to a lively part of Bristol with some good resturants - especially one on a boat. Location was not too great, feels like a hotel was put in a small place without too much thought for 300 people staying with only 20 odd car park spaces. Room was clean. Booked a room with a double bed and not 2 singles pushed together. What did I get - the 2 single beds pushed together. Got breakfast delivered to the room of which was nice. Would I recommended to others yes and no. Ok if you want to stay the night. Wouldn't recommended more than a few nights as its location is not too great if wanting to expereince Bristol. Only plus point was the TV/Computer which was all built into one (Apple Mac).
“AHEAD OF ITS TIME”
City Inn has always been ahead of its time, providing CD players/video players before its competitors but it has outdone itself now. How many hotels provide you with a fully working Apple Mac for your TV/radio/CD/DVD/internet needs and all free. Fabulous hotel with exceptionally friendly staff in the restaurant (Manuel) and a good value Market menu - 3 courses for £16.95. Hard to find a better deal.
