“Will go back again”

Excellent place for a long weekend, right in the heart of the city, good service and a breakfast to die for. We intend to try Brooks Guesthouse in Bath asap.

“Lovely Guesthouse. Would go back again.”

A friend and I went to Bristol for a gig and needed a place to stay afterwards. We didn't want to stay in a soulless budget chain so we paid the teeniest amount more and found a double room at the Brooks Guest House. It is in such a great location, next to some lovely little markets which are great for picking up lunch at. The decor is a beautiful mix of quirky and classic. The room was very clean, cosy, comfortable and nicely decorated. The communal areas were welcoming and inviting as were the women who helped us with our check-in and check-out at reception. If I return to Bristol I will stay here again without hesitation.

Area recommendations
This hotel is in the Old City side of Bristol which has lovely architecture and doesn't just look like another faceless city with the same high street shops and restaurants. Alongside this is the West End area which has a lovely selection of bars, restaurants and shops. We only went into the city centre once and didn't find much of interest, just the same old high street shops.
Getting around
I had Google Maps on my IPhone which helped guide us around and get our bearings. We have a pretty good sense of direction but Bristol is quite windy and hilly so I would recommend picking up a map for the tourist information if you don't have a map on your phone.
Shopping
Park Street has lots of independent and boutique shops that are far more interesting than the local shopping centres.
Dining
We ate at Jamie's Italian at the top of Park Street. Good value for the exceptional menu and fresh ingredients.

“Excellent little place”

Clean and comfortable with friendly staff. Rooms are not very big but excellent value for money and a perfect central location. Highly recommended.
