“3 star...would recommend”

The Avon Gorge is a dated and without doubt a 3 star hotel however for those of us on a 3 day training session at The Engineer's house in Clifton it was ideal. The hotel itself is fine. It's reasonable for Bristol too when you look at what's on offer. We didn't spend any real time in our rooms which were all pleasant with the usual expected facilities. If you are out all day don't bother paying the extra for the views as you won't ever see them! The onyx taps and dated tiles in the bathroom did cause much hilarity on the first day though! The brasserie was surprisingly good and you get a 20% discount voucher when you book in which made it good value too. The terrace overlooking the suspension bridge was lovely for a drink after the course finished and before breaking out into Clifton to find dinner which could be in any one of a number of different eateries. There was no need to go down in Bristol (except for the mandatory late night shopping in Cabot circus that stays open til 8pm!) Beware though this hotel is some distance form Bristol "central" and costs about £10 one way in a taxi! The bar is good and busy if a little expensive (£9.50 for 2 glasses of wine! ouch!) That said we all had a great time and have all rebooked for our April training. Would recommend.
