“Impressive Linens! Beware of Internet Policies”

Loved the room linens and blackout curtains. The linens made us feel luxurious and on vacation. Terrible pricing policy and access for internet. Very disappointed. The front desk said they had recently changed their internet policy and the information was not consistent between employees. Concierge services initially was extremely helpful, emailing assistance before we arrived at the hotel, making restaurant suggestions and reservations. This was hugely appreciated. However, when others in the concierge services were asked for assistance, they did not seem very knowledgeable about transportation to common area attractions or restaurant details.

“Very central.”

I feel the hotel is probably due for a makeover. Just getting a bit shabby. e.g. the rubber strip on the door was coming off. I did report it for their information but nothing happened while I was there. However it was close to the galleries, shops and the railway station was underneath, making travel easy especially to the airport.

Area recommendations
The gallery area. Very easy to get to and once there very easy to get around. The galleries were clean, modern and well sdet out.
Getting around
Use the train - it is so easy and accessible.

“We both really liked the hotel”

The Sofitel Cedntral in Brisbane is a very nice hotel . Thd rooms are\ spacioui. Thgeuyh tred azlso kept very clean. and well appointed. We could not fault the staff ei\ither whether at\ receptiion, in the dining room, for roopm servbce or the clkeaser\s or the conciuerge.; they were all impeccablke The loc\atiion of the hotel was also excellrent as it is right on top of one of the\ busiest train stations in that city, We would thorouhly recommend this particulksar hotell to anyone who travels through Brisdbane and we woukdf certainlky go back therer oursekves.

“Name is not the same as quality”

I had a business visit to Brisbane, and I every hour was counted and booked. I relied on a hotel where some of my basic logistics were going to be organized, but I spent not less than four and half hours trying to get my laundry back from the laundry, after they have called me to tell me it was ready. The internal communication system in this hotel is a mess. I booked a table at one of the two restaurants, and I was told that the restaurant next door was "fine dining only" as in I was below that level. Not nice. One of the pillows was tainted with blood. The air shaft was filthy and covered by a layer of oil and dust, that looked that teflon, but it wasn't. When addressing this with the hotel, they were nice, polite, but nothing was actually done with it. One exception for the sad standard of this hotel was the 30th floor, where attention and service mindedness from all staff there was worth the fifth star of the hotel. Besides this, I will say that Sofitel in Brisbane is mere a simple business hotel of a small town where nobody cares about the difference between the best and the third from the back end of the list. Perhaps that is good enough for Australia, but that is not good enough as defining luxury in other parts of the world. Having a clean pillow or a perfectly clean bathroom are basics anywhere.

“convenient location”

wonderful hotel, staff are friendly. the best of the hotel is it's location, right above brisbane central railway station and is really short distance walk to the city centre shopping mall(queen st.). the only disappointment is the hotel swimming pool, it's rather small for a high standard hotel.

“Excellent Location for Downtown Brisbane”

The Sofitel Brisbane Central could not be more conveniently situated being right on top of the Central Station and high speed train links to the airport - So it has the convenience of an airport hotel ( 30 mins max to the terminals) with the added fun of being downtown with all the shops and restaurants on your doorstep. The downside was that the building is quite old and dated in parts - so not up to the usual Sofitel standards of style and sophistication, when it comes to fixtures and fittings. Service and cleanliness were excellent.

“Excellent hotel”

The Sofitel is n excellent choice, The Cuvee lounge in the lobby has a good bar, and the Thyme Square resturnt's buffet was good choice but pricey at $70 AUD. Overall, you cant go wrong with the Sofitel.

Traveller's tip
There is a metro rail station underneath the hotel, so save a few bucks by taking the rail from the airport to the hotel nd back.
