“Nice comfortable hotel”
We only stayed one night. Everything we needed was there. Good service and a nice room. Very convenient for the heart of Brisbane.
“Rude and incompetent staff who do not offer any kind of service to their customers!”
Unfortunately the Mercure Brisbane had recently moved to a new reservation system (as advised by their staff) so they had no record that the room had already been paid for through Expedia. The staff became extremely unpleasant when they were advised that the room was booked and paid for through Expedia. The person completing the checkout process refused to go investigate and check that in fact that the room was paid for. The manager was called who was also unprofessional and did not want to go and check their records for proof of payment. After much heated discussion the manager agreed to go and check 'out the back' and indeed found that the room was booked and paid for. No apology was given at all. This is a very bad example of customer service and clearly the staff were far to lazy or incompetent to check for the payment details. The staff kept blaming the move to the new system as the reasion of having to ask for payment again, however this is not the problem of their customers, Mercure should have processes in place to insure they have details of all their bookings and payments to insure their customers are well looked after and their stay is a pleasant as possible. Is that not what hospitality is?
