“affordable and stylish”
Service was great, room was comfortable - with very cool Evo cosmetics, and a nice view over the Roma St parklands. The lobby and bar area was very trendy and seemed like a great place to sit, have a dring and read the paper, although the strong scent of the vases of oriental lillies was a little overpowering. Not the most central location, but the 15 minute walk down the hill into the city was a pleasant one, and the proximity to the Roma St train station made getting to and from the airport a breeze. Overall, I'd recommend this place and I'd stay there again.
“Parking is a problem.”
Very satisfied with all amenities and service offered by the Hotel Urban. The one exception was having to pay for carparking of our rental car. At $14 per day, it could become quite expensive. We wrongfully assumed that it would just be provided. Overall, a pretty good place to stay.
“Great Place!”
A great hotel. Desk staff were very nice and helpful. Room was small but very comfortable. Bed and pillow were fantastic and the room was really clean and Im very fussy! The only slight down side was the car park. There are many posts to negotiate around and its quite tricky parking.
“Nice but not super”
Nothing wrong with the hotel at all except that you had to go outside on the street to have a smoke, can't recommend this to smokers. The town and the hotel close down around 9pm, so if you are hungry, start early or you will be eating from the minibar.
“Great location, service and facilities”
excellent location just up through the Roma St Parklands. From Roma St Station, just walk through the station and up through the gardens for the quickest way to walk to the motel. Room excellent, and having a balcony with chairs and table a real bonus. Small gym and clean outdoor pool also excellent.
“Just right"”
I already wrote most of it above. The Urban is an elegant, modern hotel in downtown Brisbane with easy access to "everything" including shopping, trains, and a lovely Park across the street. Friendly service by a delightful staff make for an excellent stay.
“Recommended hotel”
The room is nice, clean and comfortable. Receptionist is helpful. Nice environment as it at uphill. Near to the central by 10min downhill walk. Might get little bit noisy when there's wedding dinner at the restaurant bar at the ground floor. And get into parking might be quite difficult as the space moving around the parking area quite small. Overall is satisfied.
“ABSOLUTELY AWFUL!”
I was given room 618 - it is above a number of rooms with enormous balconies. As a result, I was kept awake ALL night by drunken party groups. I rang the front desk on multiple occasions and finally got silence at 5am. I had to be up at 8am. The next night, my room practically vibrated from the music coming from the upstairs function centre, where a wedding was taking place. Again, I rang the front desk and the same rude woman from check in proceeded to tell me that no one ever complained about functions and it would finish around midnight. I had to be up at 5.50am. Unimpressed. The hotel looks amazing but I would never risk a weekend of no sleep there ever again.
“Very poor hotel!!”
Checked into hotel hoping that it would be nice and fresh following the "$10 million refurb". Very shabby around the edges and certainly not deserving of the stars it has received. We flew in from the UK and had 6 large cases. No porter (they never have one) on the door and no help from reception staff following our 24 hour flight. Reception area looks like its from the 1970s. Not refurbished very well. First room we were given smelt of smoke (even though apparently non-smoking) and also very scruffy. Corridors and lifts look like havent received refurb. Second room (after complaining) was marginally better. Stayed in lots of hotels around the world and on the website this looks great. Does not live up to it in real life!
“would recommend and if staying longer would stay...”
hotel staff was helpfull and gracious. hotel location was perfect for the one night stay. walked to the center of town and walked to transportation to the airport. room was clean, modern, bed comfortably big.
