“Delighted!”

My friend and I like to stay at the cheapest places we can find, to keep our cash for more fun things (other than sleep). This motel was just re-decorated...fresh paint, carpets, fixtures, etc. It served a very good complimentary breakfast of danishes, cinnamon rolls, cereal, toast, coffee, juice and milk. We were impressed with how quick the staff was to refill all of the breakfast items as soon as they began to run low. We had the use of a computer in the front entrance way, with free access to the internet. The bed was comfortable (although the pillows were flat). The staff were very friendly, polite, helpful and kind. Although they did not speak english very well, they were keen workers and happy. I was surprised and delighted with such a place, especially considering the price. We travel once a month all over the States and we have not been as thrilled as we were this past weekend. Definitely will go there again.

We booked the room and pre-paid with a credit card. The exterior of the hotel was clean and well maintained. Unfortunately, once we checked-in, we found the room to be old, dingy, and in great need of renewal. The most significant issue was a strong musty and stale odour in the room. It was not visibly dirty but it did not feel clean because of the odour. The carpet seemed to be new but the furniture was shabby and in need of replacement. My partner was unwilling to spend the night in the room because of the unpleasant odour. After some serious consideration of the extra cost to pay for another accommodation, we were concerned enough about the odour problem to return the key and accept the loss. We ended-up driving quite a distance to find another hotel.
