We stayed here for a week's skiing in february. We had a family room which was more like a mini suite, with a hallway, main double bedroom, bathroom and a second bedroom with bunkneds. This works brilliantly when staying with children, which we were. The room was comfortable and had a balcony. We were on the second floor and it was very quiet. Everyone at the hotel was extremely friendly and helpful. The food was delicious and plentiful, a choice of two starters and mains most nights and fabulous desserts! The hotel was a great place to come back to after a day's skiing and it works really well using the free shuttle bus to the olympic bubble/cablecar up to meribel. We would thoroughly recommend Hotel Athena.

"Hotel conveniently in town centre close to shops and cable car."
This hotel benefits from good secure car parking (extra charge) - vital if you are travelling on motorbikes as we were. The majority of its customers are there for the spa 'Cure' so expect menus to have calory counts alongside each dish. Overall a good hotel, but river outside somewhat noisy at night after heavy rain storms.
This hotel is in the heart of brides, a very small resort with a couple of bars and restaurants in close walking distance. The room was clean and comfortable but basic with the decor tired in need of a refurb. Could benefit from providing tea & coffee facilities in the room. We were in a low floor room which proved to be noisy when late night revellers were making their way home in the early hours. Perfectly situated for gondola station for skiing - 30 sec walk and a 20 min drive from Meribel. Overall would recommend but for budget travellers only expecting no frills.
"Great value for money, in the middle of Brides. I can only hope I get to back next season."
I arrived really early because I travelled on the Eurostar and had to wait for the reception to open and people to check out. They had somewhere for me to put my bags downstairs and the gentleman at reception suggested I should go ski as I had the whole day to wait. Caught first lift up and the slopes in Meribel were nigh empty as it was a saturday.
All throughout my trip the staff were super helpful and very friendly. Can't ask for more really. The room was fairly large (not sure how it would cope with 4 people in it, but it wouldn't have been terrible). Balcony didn't have much light, but I got the room at a discounted rate, so it's probably to be expected.
Hotel was right in the centre of the town, perfectly placed for the few bars and shops. A 5 or 10 minute walk to the Gondola up to the 3valley resort depending on how easy you want to take it.
This was originally meant to be a business trip, but due to circumstances became a leisure trip and there were plenty of friendly brits around and Jorje (i think that's how you spell his name), the barman from the Auberge Pub is an absolute legend. For me these things are essential for someone travelling alone.
Second stay at residence after about 7 years. Staff were efficient and courteous. I knew about charges for parking, linen and TV, and no WiFi for rooms. This is not a conventional hotel, it is standard skiing self-catering accommodation, so take your own sheets, towels, pillow cases and pillows (as the pillows provided are square) if you do not wish to pay the extra charge. Cleaning equipment is provided, but you will need sponges, detergent and dishwasher tablets. If using lift to Merribel, pay for boot locker and ski storage for an easy life.

We stayed in a "Cosy" room - has extra big balcony, great views, beautifully decorated. But it is the common area features of the hotel that are so appealing. The breakfast room is a delight to start the day in - pretty decor, and a lovely breakfast of good quality cheese, bread, yoghurt, eggs etc. There are many little seating areas in the hotel to enjoy any time of the day. Staff are very friendly and helpful. Some of the rooms are a little hard to access if you don't like stairs, so ask about this when you book. The hotel has a lovely outlook being close to the river that gushes through Brides les Bains. A really lovely place to stay.
The apartment my husband and I had was modern, very spacious and the kitchen well equipped, for those reasons we considered it to be great value for money. Parking was also available onsite.
On booking the company took a deposit, without any notification.
A month before our stay the hotel took full payment, without notification.
On arrival we were directed to an estate agent office in the village centre called Nexity. Here we had to check in, consisted of being given a key and booklet on the village.
When we got to the apartment we looked through the welcome pack which informed us that towels had to be pre ordered (not communicated previously) and that we were required to clean the apartment before checking out at 10am. I went back to the office where I was given towels and informed that I could book a cleaning so no drama just bit of a miscommunication and given that the office and accommodation were on different sites, would have been appreciated at time of check in. Was not so much of an issue for myself and my husband but I can imagine if you had children would be inconvenient. It does stipulate costs in the non mandatory section but could be a bit more informative. Just thought it might be worth mentioning here.
There is a free bus outside the apartments, which takes you to and from the gondola. It is however a 30minute ride to Meribel. This is the price you pay for affordable accommodation.
