Jayne Seymore Room

Posted 17-Apr-2014
Pros: The character of the hotel and the room with its 4 poster bed
Cons: See above
Location: Not applicable
Very nice hotel unfortunately the above room is directly above a function room and there happened to be a function on the night we stayed which I suppose is luck of the draw It finished 10:15-10:30 pm however the staff then proceeded to clear up dragging and scraping tables and chairs until nearly midnight they obviously didnt get finished as they then started the same process again shortley after 7am not very good perhaps if they lifted instead of dragged the furniture I would have put a very good comment here and it just spoilt our stay a bit.

Great hotel with good access to M25 and London

Posted 18-Dec-2013
Pros: Its character
Cons: Better heating in the bathroom in winter
Location: Only used hotel as a base for getting into London
had 3 nights in December and ate each night in the lounge, which was really good value together with an excellent choice of dishes. The Irish stew is particularly good. Beds are very large and comfortable, Bathroom could use more heating!

I found all the staff very friendly but I especially loved the room and the walk around the courtyard to my room. Breakfast was very good as well.

Hidden Gem

Who would've thought such a delightful comfortable and characterful place could exist just off the m25 near Essex, well it does.We booked this hotel mainly due to it's location for a nearby wedding, but were stunned by how beautiful and quaint the place is. The room was it's own little apartment just off the charming gardens. Lovely place,m will be back if we are ever around the Essex area again.. Highly recommend, has to be seen to truly appreciate it

What a surprise!

Posted 12-Nov-2013
Pros: The friendliness and the quaintness of the place.
Cons: Breakfast was too expensive for what you got although very nice.
Wow what a pleasant surprise. Clean, friendly, nice room and a great stay. When we first arrived the car park at the front of the hotel had plenty of free spaces. We were greeted by very friendly, helpful staff, clean and smart. Our room was more of a little cottage/suit then a hotel room. The grounds were wonderful even on a cold rainy day- we wanted to spend time there. The room itself was clean, roomy, well decorated in keeping with the rest of the hotel. Would definitely stay again.

Very pleasant and charming Old English atmosphere...historic hotel built in the 1400's ...era of Henry VIII. Great hospitality for a small hotel. Quality menu for dining.

Overpriced

Posted 29-Sep-2013 on Hotels.com
Welcome at the desk was lovely. From there it went a little downhill. The room was pleasant but had a room length crack in the bathroom floor, the sinks sealant was bodged in. The shower front was t&g and the wifi didn't even reach the bedroom. The breakfast was lovely bug the music was played through a really tinny horrible sounding stereo. Nothing drastic but at over £200 a night I would expect far more attention to detail.
