“Old world luxury; Modern day conveniences”

Set in a renaissance nobleman's home, the Arcadia is one of the great hotel finds in eastern europe. The large number of staff are courteous and willing to do anything for you, regardless of what you are inquiring about. The room was phenomenal: large, beautifully furnished with tapestries and furniture; HiDef wall-mounted TV; and a marble bath that was huge and modern. Nothing lacked. Their restaurant "L'Olive" has been voted the best in Slovakia (and, it is wonderful: local produce, cheeses, meats and fish). The "Library Bar" is like sitting in a nobleman's library - fireplace, love seats, etc. The location is RIGHT in the market square - 3 steps away. We were there for the Christmas Market and a more magical time you can't have: handmade gifts, mulled wine, grilling sausages, decorations. We heartily recommend this - and, it's only one hour away from Vienna!

Area recommendations

The only place in our opinion to stay is right in the old town: Market Square. Do NOT make the mistake of going to "Eurovea" (the new modern convention center with hotels and shopping) - it's a good 25 minute walk from the old town and has absolutely nothing to offer except a huge shopping mall.

When to go

If you don't go in the summer, do go the Friday of Thanksgiving which is the day the Christmas Market opens (until Christmas). It's utterly charming.

Getting there

Simple! Arrive at Vienna Airport and near McDonald's as you exit customs you'lll see signs for busses. Slovaklines or Eurobus (they are the same company) has a small office there. You can buy tickets there (or, on the bus itself). They run every half-hour to Bratislava and the trip takes 60 minutes from the airport. [If you are downtown Vienna, the same bus stops there, too. From downtown it takes about 75 minutes). Make sure you get off at the main bus station (the last stop) which will be closer to the old town. You still need to take a taxi from the station to your hotel but they are plentiful.

“In the heart of Bratislava's historic district”

The Arcadia does an excellent job of maintaining its Old World charm and still meet today's high expectations. Rooms were spacious, decor nice, and service very attentive. Don't get excited about the workout room, and food wasn't exceptional, but there are options close at hand. It's ideally located for walking the cobblestoned pedestrian center of the historic district, so a perfect launch point for getting acquainted with the city.

Old city hall has a nice museum that gave us a feeling of a city trying to reclaim its history and character. We recommend taking a walking tour of the historic district.

“Absolutely perfect”

This hotel was my idea of perfection. The location was right around the corner from the old town squares. The building itself was magnificent. The breakfast was really nice and reasonably priced (and with champagne!). But the service was the best of all -- very organized and professional without being stuffy. The waiters especially could not be improved upon. We loved it and would definitely stay again.

“The best hotel I have ever stayed in.”

My daughter and I travelled to Bratislava recently and stayed at the Arcadia. We were impressed with this hotel the second we were greeted at the entrance. The staff was extremely friendly courteous and friendly and made us extremely welcome. Our room was beautiful, clean and quite comfortable-right in the middle of Old Town. I would recommend this hotel to anyone who can afford this luxury.

“Bratislavas best hotel”

This Hotel is outstanding. The spa is great, the service couldn't be better, the rooms are beautiful, the hotel is spotless, and its probably the best location in Bratislava. If i'm back I will definitely stay here, and i'd highly recommend it

Area recommendations

Eat out with the historic town centre. The centre is over priced and not that great, but you'll find amazing food for a fraction of the price just outside the centre a few mins walk away.

“One of the best!”

“perfect hotel in Bratislava”

I've just spent two nights at the Arcadia. The hotel is a beautiful old building, very tastefully renovated and right in the historic centre of town. My room was huge and very comfortable. All the staff spoke excellent English and were very helpful. I stay in hotels all the time and this was one of the best experiences I've ever had. I recommend it highly.

Area recommendations

Bratislava is quite small and everything you would want to see is within a 15-walk from the hotel.

“A historic hotel in the heart of the city...”

Stepping in from the cold streets of Bratislava, the Hotel Arcadia hugs its guests into comfort. The bright, open atrium invites visitors to relax their feet from the surrounding cobblestone streets and nearby slovak sights. The staff are focused on their guests from the moment you check-in without doting. The spa and sauna are a welcome treat either before or after a nightcap in the 24 hour bar. Whether visiting Bratislava for a day or more, Hotel Arcadia is closest you can get to the heart of the Slovak city.

“Nice and clean hotel”

The hotel is nice and clean, but the room and bathroom facilities are not of 5-star level. There is no separate concierge desk and the reception area is small.
