hotel great for kids, waterslides

Posted 16-Mar-2015
Pros: Staff was good
We had a pool view room, the room was hot, hotel still had winter heat on so you couldn't cool it down, the hotel did give us a fan. At 330 in the morning people loud around pool, had to phone front desk to complain, they said they would look after it right away but it was still noisy for over 1/2 an hr to 45 min. People running in hallways late at night If I was to stay here I would never book by pool,

one of the better hotels in Brandon

Posted 23-Feb-2015
Pros: cleaniness
Cons: softer beds
we have stayed at other hotels in Brandon , but we prefer the Oak this is our 3rd or 4th stay there, just wish the beds where little more soft, my wife has a back problem, plates in her back so yes beds are little hard. Always have stayed with the kids usually where they pick for there birthdays. Wish we could afford a night stay for just us as a getaway for relaxation and adult comfort of Jacuzzi and wine. Keep entering contest but no luck, but over all enjoy our stay at the Royal Oak always.

Clean however dated

Posted 23-Feb-2015
Pros: Family orientated.
Cons: Dated
Location: We were only in city to sleep.
Unfortunately we have two negative things to comment. The first room we were in was extremely warm and noisy. Sounded like furnace or hotel fans were above our room. Asked to be moved and we were moved to a suite which was a cooler less noisy room. We had our supper at the hotel restaurant "The Echo". The prime rib was excellent however the parmasen chicken was dreadful! Tough, overlooked. Needed a sharp steak knife to try to cut meat. We were not charged for this meal. Also it was a record cold night and we were not informed of underground parking.

My apologies for the bad experience Gangles. We pride ourselves on a positive experience in Echo, and I am sorry the chicken parm was overcooked. We have brought in a engineer to help deal with the heating and cooling. The underground parking is for guests on the 3rd, 4th and 5th floor, so if you were on one of those floors and were not told about I am sorry.

Great hotel. Just a few minor details.

Posted 03-Feb-2015
Room and staff were both perfect! Zero issues there. In the morning the window was sweating the front that had built up and leaked down the wall. Also could not take advantage of the breakfast due to the line up. Neither issue ruined the stay. Would recommend the hotel to others. Would gladly stay again.

Glad you enjoyed your stay James. Our apologies about the lineup at breakfast, we are working at ways to get more people through when the restaurant is busy. Hope to see you again soon

Pool Parties

Posted 27-Jan-2015
Pros: Continental Breakfast was good.
Cons: The pool and who can use it.
Location: Close to 18th street so not far from everything.
They allow outside people to use the pool thus it was not accessible during our visit as at any time there where over 50 kids in the pool.

Loud Poolview Room

Posted 26-Jan-2015
I do not suggest getting a Poolview room if on second floor. It was loud until pool closed and then loud at 2am when kids were in the pool room on the second floor walkway. Staff were very helpful with any questions we had and daughter enjoyed pool and water slide.

Loud & over priced

Posted 28-Dec-2014
Pros: It was clean, staff was ok and was close to the event I was attending
Cons: Either an adult area to relax or a quieter room
Location: I was attending a private function
For what I paid I would have liked to at least been able to relax in the hot tub but with the amount of pool side parties that were happening I didn't get that opportunity. To pay top dollar in Brandon for a room I would have expected more. My room was pool side on the second floor so very loud as well, relaxing in the room really wasn't much of an option either
