No air conditioning on first two floors.

Posted 08-May-2015
Pros.. Staff very professional. Room comfortable and clean.cons. No air conditioning on first two floors. Run by an old boiler system that they control and won't be turned on until summer, our room was pool view, so the heat and extreme noise is a deal breaker. Not bring able to adjust the heat or air or a window that opens was unbearable. On a scale of 1-10. Pool view room noise was a 10. My husband went out and bought industrial ear plugs so we could sleep when the pool closed . Front desk allowed us have a 1pm checkout at no extra cost. When we ordered room service, the price was double on our bill than on the menu in the room. When we enquired, they said prices changed months ago, but had not been adjusted in the room menus yet, only in the restaurant.food was delicious. But had to speak to three different staff to get our bill adjusted. Could not use the free breakfast, as we were kept awake by the heat until 7am. By that point, we just needed sleep as I am 8 months pregnant. I did not ask for a room change because I booked on Expedia and my bill said no changes of any kind do I assumed we were stuck. There was also a 25 dollar room charge for having a pet. Was not advertised on Expedia, that there was a charge. No fault of the hotel.

My apologies about the heat ruining your stay. We have hired an engineering firm to help us come up with a solution to allow guests to have temperature control in the room. As for the room service menus we do have new copies that are being put in each room, I am sorry that the room you were in was not completed. I am glad that the staff was professional and I hope that we will see you again once the little one arrives so we can provide a better experience.

Overnight at the Royal Oak

Posted 27-Apr-2015
Pros: Underground parking. Large pool, comfortable rooms, nice buffet breakfast
Cons: Elevators are a considerable distance from front desk
Location: Location is fine with us as it's close to where family resides. Very little as far as shopping choices in the area.
Overall everything was fine. A little slow checking in, however they were very busy. Good buffet breakfast in the morning.

Nice, central hotel

Posted 27-Apr-2015
Close to everything, this hotel was great. Friendly, helpful staff and clean room. Pool area was fabulous. Restaurant is a bit pricey for a family. The room would have been better with more light (very dark) and a small table would have been nice as well. The fitted mattress sheet did not fit well and kept coming off throughout the night...kind of a pain.

Nice place

Posted 20-Apr-2015
2 gripes about this place. The first of it being do not get a poolside room whatever you do. The a/c if there actually is any in this place sucks so you won't have a window. Secondly the pool opens at 9am so if you had any plans of sleeping past that forgot about, the windows to the pool are so thin I could hear the lights humming. Other than that extremely clean rooms with a nice shower and tv and quick WiFi with a good breakfeast. Just don't get poolside.

Hi Jim sorry about the noise and lack of Air conditioning. Unfortunately our system only allows for heating or cooling so in spring months the pool side rooms do get warm. We are working with engineers to deal with the problem. Glad you enjoyed the rest of your stay and hope to see you again soon

The staff was very friendly and accommodating during my stay. The rooms were nice and clean. The downside was that there wasn't any iron/ironing board in the room and my room was right across the entry to the pool area and so it would get quite loud later at night.

Sorry about the noise from the pool during your stay. I hope next time you stay with us you can check out one of our suites which would be a lot quieter and further away from the pool. Our rooms on the 1st and 2nd floors should have a small ironing board and iron in the bottom drawer of the dresser. If it happens again next time your here please call the front desk and we would be happy to bring you one.

hotel great for kids, waterslides

Posted 16-Mar-2015
Pros: Staff was good
We had a pool view room, the room was hot, hotel still had winter heat on so you couldn't cool it down, the hotel did give us a fan. At 330 in the morning people loud around pool, had to phone front desk to complain, they said they would look after it right away but it was still noisy for over 1/2 an hr to 45 min. People running in hallways late at night If I was to stay here I would never book by pool,

one of the better hotels in Brandon

Posted 23-Feb-2015
Pros: cleaniness
Cons: softer beds
we have stayed at other hotels in Brandon , but we prefer the Oak this is our 3rd or 4th stay there, just wish the beds where little more soft, my wife has a back problem, plates in her back so yes beds are little hard. Always have stayed with the kids usually where they pick for there birthdays. Wish we could afford a night stay for just us as a getaway for relaxation and adult comfort of Jacuzzi and wine. Keep entering contest but no luck, but over all enjoy our stay at the Royal Oak always.

Clean however dated

Posted 23-Feb-2015
Pros: Family orientated.
Cons: Dated
Location: We were only in city to sleep.
Unfortunately we have two negative things to comment. The first room we were in was extremely warm and noisy. Sounded like furnace or hotel fans were above our room. Asked to be moved and we were moved to a suite which was a cooler less noisy room. We had our supper at the hotel restaurant "The Echo". The prime rib was excellent however the parmasen chicken was dreadful! Tough, overlooked. Needed a sharp steak knife to try to cut meat. We were not charged for this meal. Also it was a record cold night and we were not informed of underground parking.

My apologies for the bad experience Gangles. We pride ourselves on a positive experience in Echo, and I am sorry the chicken parm was overcooked. We have brought in a engineer to help deal with the heating and cooling. The underground parking is for guests on the 3rd, 4th and 5th floor, so if you were on one of those floors and were not told about I am sorry.
